Excited about the series guys. What can you tell me about your team?

I know Arkansas fans are ready for baseball after how our football and basketball seasons have gone. We really don't know what to expect this year. We lost a ton of pitching, including all 3 weekend starters and our closer, after leading the NCAA in ERA last year. I've seen us ranked anywhere from #25-#40 but we were preseason #1 last year so that doesn't mean much.

Our offense was below average last year but we're expecting it to be better this year...we added the state of Ohio high school all-time hits leader and our 2B was named a preseason 2nd team all-american by baseball america. Our fielding was horrible last year, we led the SEC in errors. Not sure what to expect this year but our outfield is the strong point of our D.

If i had to guess as far as pitching next weekend i'd say we're going to start:

Friday: Junior LHP Jalen Beeks (2.20 ERA last year out of the bullpen)
Saturday: Sophomore RHP Trey Killian (3.19, same)
Sunday: Junior RHP Chris Oliver (2.25, same)

But hey im not the coach so who knows :D Heres to a good one!

We will have a young but talented team. Our guys are excited to make the trip to Fayetteville to take on the Hogs. We will only start possibly two seniors with the rest either JC transfers or Sophs. Jamie Nunn our Fri. Starter was first team all SoCon last season. The other two spots are up for grabs at this time. We should be able to score some runs this season but you never know early in the year. Our Fri. Scrimmage was in 33 degree temps. I just hope we get decent weather in Ark. Billy Jones our second year coach is building a good program but this is only his second season. Our non conference schedule is a killer for us with Ark. NC State, UNC, USC,Clemson, ND, Michigan, Kent State. Etc. If we can survives the non conference schedule. Then we should have a good conference season. Thanks for our post. Hope we have a good series and maybe win a couple.

i'll take a stab at this. i know our fans are looking forward to baseball as well after how Football went and Bball is just a disaster for us

We lost our Sunday starter to the draft and our Saturday starter is going to be working back into the weekend rotation after getting relegated to a relief role midway through last year. So, outside of our front end starer Jamie Nunn, it's kind of an unknown for us. Nunn is a beast though and I really want to see how he pitches against an SEC team. He beat NC State to open up our season last year

We're replacing our middle infield as they both graduated last year and were probably our 2 best players. We'll be replacing our leadoff hitter and our cleanup hitter who had a school record hitting streak last year. But we are getting our best OF back who missed all of last year and our 1B is coming back after missing the 2nd half of last season with concussion issues. our lineup has a lot of pop and we have some really young, but really good players who played last year as Freshman

i personally am interested to see our RS Fresh catcher who went to my HS. he was a pretty highly recruited player (i think UF was recruiting him heavy) and he could see time as our DH

our first 8 games are going to be a daunting test and I want to see App rise to the occasion, especially against the Wolfpack and Holes later on

What catcher you talkin about? If it's Minton, he's long gone.

Is that the kid from West Wilkes? If so, he quit.

why did he quit? As far as the season goes, very excited, great schedule, very talented, but very young team, if we can survive the first half of the season, could be a really good team by the second half of the season. One more question, does anyone know when the yosef club memberships go out?

I don't know how many games we will win this weekend, but with the bad weather in Boone and Arkansas the last 2 months I doubt both teams got in the work they needed to play their best this weekend. Probably see alot of errors, both mental and physical, alot of walks, and maybe some of the worst BB both teams will play all year. I would take 1 win this weekend.

Would that be Eric Boggs? He should dual-sport at App

Yeah we were having to practice in snow the past few weeks

I mean we lost to Western Illinois and Pacific last year so you guys are definitely capable of taking at least one. No result would surprise me given the unknowns with our team this year

Central Arkansas made it as far as we did last year in the tourney...college baseball's talent level seems to be closer than it is in some of the other sports
