Outmanned and outmatched at the plate. Usually don’t see us cave like this but USM has some great pitching.

These announcers are really grasping for straws when talking about the pitching.

Why do we take Clark out? He was in a groove. Are we “just getting work in” again?Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:04 pmThese announcers are really grasping for straws when talking about the pitching.
Clark could be our #2 starter but isn’t getting his pitch count extended because of stuff like this.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I have no idea. At this point I would just throw arms that aren't in the normal rotation against WF. (because it doesn't matter at this point) rest whatever arms are left and try to hang on to a 6 seed because by the end of next week they could be a 9 seed.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:06 pmWhy do we take Clark out? Rainout wouldn’t be a bad thing. RPI is toast anyway for optics and “feel goods”Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:17 pmI have no idea. Swept clean. Caught them on an off day and still couldn’t get it done. Base running mistakes cost us.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
RPI meant nothing all year. They don't play a schedule where if they had a chance for an ALB that the committee would give them a look. They are what they are AND no more talk about this damn pitching lab until there are tangible results produced AND no more talk about ALB at the beginning of each year. Ok sorry rant over.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 2:19 pmRainout wouldn’t be a bad thing. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
We aren’t contenders in the conference. So Missy is so much stronger in every phase. Are they the best ? I hope so but we might find out differently in Horry County. Maybe we steal one there and manage to finish in the top six. Now a question: in what other sport would we consider finishing in the top six an accomplishment?

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
We’re in a great conference for baseball, and it’s only just getting started. Get a couple more arms and we can be in the top 4-6 consistently. That’s the trick, how do we lure top arms to Boone, NC? Money? Facilities? Playing P5’s? We’ve had some success with pitchers going pro…we could use that as an advantage.Stonewall wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 5:43 pmWe aren’t contenders in the conference. Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
It is an uphill battle in NC...
UNC, State, Dook, Wake, UNCW, Campbell and EasyU typically have decent to good teams .. although I realize that all players not coming from NC... still much talent to spread around NC alone..

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
So can everyone else. They get one or two "diamond in the ruff" kinda of prospects the succeed every few years but not consistent enough to be a contender. It's very evident they get the 2nd and 3rd tier pitchers. We will kindly disagree and that's ok. They have had 3 all conference pitcher since 2015 (start of SBC) while boasting the 3rd worst team ERA during that time.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 6:30 pmWe’re in a great conference for baseball, and it’s only just getting started. Take a look at the stats for this year - only 4 pitchers have less than a 6.00 ERA and one of them only has 5 appearances.
Where are they going to get the money? Facilities? They play the first month off the mountain and barley get out to practice.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I think we are saying the same thing, but I’m not sure. The sweep this weekend did make me drink a few, but seems like someone finished off a 24 rack. Our pitching has to get better. No one is disputing that.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 7:53 pmSo can everyone else. Top 6 seed and pulling off 1 or 2 wins in the tourney should be considered a success for this program.Stonewall wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 5:43 pmWe aren’t contenders in the conference. Depends on the year. Finishing in the top six in football this year would be an improvement.Stonewall wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 5:43 pmWe aren’t contenders in the conference.
