If that is the case Twin- City should be the only place we buy them. US company and alum is icing on the cake.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:We should all hope the socks are made by Twin-City Knitting in Conover.lillycafe wrote:Why are these uniforms Rawlings as opposed to Nike? Some of the ownership are App alums, and though the tube socks are imported from China, the sports socks such as what the baseball team would wear are mostly made in Catawba County with local employees from what I have been told.

I would tend to agree. Like furniture, and gloves, very little hosiery in left in North Carolina. I think it good policy to support what is left of the industry.

I like the grey but I do not like "App State". App State in any form is just plain bad. Having said that, I don't mind the black and gold hat.

Re: Baseball Uniforms
The gray with the white pants is OK - the others are just ugly, as someone said earlier, they look like bad softball uniforms - the hat is terrible

Re: Baseball Uniforms
The deal Cobb made with Nike while good for football and basketball did very little for baseball and I would assume other sports as well. Outside of a couple of uniforms they didnt get much equipment. Remember the coat fundraiser we had a few years ago? Rawlings gave us a deal that provides the team with a bunch of clothes/equipment that Nike wouldnt give them so its a no brainer. Its no secret that Cobb didnt take care of the diamond Apps like they deserve so Jones went out and did what he had to do.lillycafe wrote:Why are these uniforms Rawlings as opposed to Nike? I'm just not a fan of shortening our name. I especially don't care for it in print.. Just my preference. I don' t cringe when I hear it unlike when the name is mis-pronounced.Saint3333 wrote:Why don't you like App State?AppSt94 wrote:I like the grey but I do not like "App State". Touché. I didn't say I did n't like it. I said It was not my preference to hear it shortened. The screen name was created years ago when the world looked
different through my eyes.

That's funny, because it has taken a few years for App to grow on me, and now I like it.AppSt94 wrote:Touché. I didn't say I did n't like it. I said It was not my preference to hear it shortened. The screen name was created years ago when the world looked

Re: Baseball Uniforms
I get it, personal preference. I think it's a marketing thing though. We moved away from ASU because there are so many. On ESPN, we're "APP" on the scoreboard, not "ASU." There's more value in being the only "App" than the "not Arizona State." "App State" is a brand name that we can market. You could argue that "Appalachian" is too, but with us having a particular pronunciation of the word that the majority of the country doesn't follow, it could make it more difficult to brand/market.AppSt94 wrote:Meh. For my personal preference, I agree with you. However, marketing wise, having our sports teams be marketed as "App State" makes sense and cents.
