Scared us all. Losing him would be the equivalent of losing a Joey Augilar but maybe even more extreme. Plenty of QB’s out there, but there aren’t many Steensma’s out there.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Wed Jun 26, 2024 5:06 amDude, that's not funny!!

Maybe a 2025 thread needs to happen.
I like the hire. Local/regional guy. Has been recruiting the area for years.
Fits the mold of what Kermit is all about. Faith, family, coaching young men, and some baseball. Oh, and mentioned Omaha as a goal!

Seems like a good hire. Always nice to have a former head coach on the staff.

Took a little negotiating but he was our first choice. AD staff to be commended. We are trying to upgrade baseball. Other things in the works but it takes $$$. As to Omaha , that has been KS goal since he arrived. I applaud high expectations.

One of our own as a Top 150 College Prospect.
Tolley comes in at #80. Very impressive storybook career. Kid can hit, teams would be dumb not to take a pick on him. If only he came to App at 21 and not 23, have to figure he’d be a lot higher on the prospect chart.

I still think Tolley should have been off the board before now.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 2:29 pmhttps://x.com/appbaseball/status/181329 ... 3hJ5cku44g

Agreed. One of the best talents in the draft, unfortunately he's 24+ YO.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 2:32 pmI still think Tolley should have been off the board before now.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 2:29 pmhttps://x.com/appbaseball/status/181329 ... 3hJ5cku44g

The draft is shortened now as well which doesn't help.
CJ and him should both be long gone.

Baseball drafts are funny in how they are conducted. It’s not always about talent. It’s what is that talent want in terms of signing bonus.

Love what BT did and should be drafted but if he was one of best talents he would have been drafted regardless of age. As for CJ per 247 - he's already in the workforce and has moved on.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 2:40 pmAgreed. 24.5 is pretty old when you could draft an 18 year old with projectability. He would have been the 2nd oldest player drafted this year. It won’t keep him down though, he’s ready to play ball in the next chapter!Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:16 pmLove what BT did and should be drafted but if he was one of best talents he would have been drafted regardless of age. Why would you draft an 18 year old on projectability if you have a 24 year old that's "one of the best talents in the draft"311neers wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:59 pm24.5 is pretty old when you could draft an 18 year old with projectability. Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
MLB teams now want you close to or in the bigs by 24 (I believe I heard Harold Reynolds say that tonight). An 18 year old gives them time in the system to develop and they would have to wait 3 years to draft you again. At 24.5 they could just sign a FA deal and not spend a pick. I was told it was his age that led to a lack of calls. Probaseball report had him 80th college ranked prospect for the draft.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 9:24 pmWhy would you draft an 18 year old on projectability if you have a 24 year old that's "one of the best talents in the draft"311neers wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 8:59 pm24.5 is pretty old when you could draft an 18 year old with projectability. Re: 2024 Baseball Mega Thread
and I'm telling you it wasn't age related but do agree the shorter draft is changing the strategy of MLB teams. Love the HR shoutout though. I saw that exact same info word for word about prospects on google.311neers wrote: ↑Tue Jul 16, 2024 10:36 pmMLB teams now want you close to or in the bigs by 24 (I believe I heard Harold Reynolds say that tonight). Again I agree - he probably should have been drafted. You are right about HS draft picks. 6-7 years (24.1) is the hope IF they are a high round pick (rounds 1-20 only can find data using old draft) they rest are roster fillers and hope 1-2 somehow make a MLB roster someday. The median age for college players to make the bigs for those that make it is 26 and change (found it on the google)
Sorry I'm straying from the point. It's not about his age.

You calling Banks a liar? I’m going to side with the player and prospect that fielded calls from teams. Right from the horses mouth.Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 12:26 amand I'm telling you it wasn't age related but do agree the shorter draft is changing the strategy of MLB teams. If he’s lying (why would he), and it wasn’t due to his age, why do you think he wasn’t drafted?

Not at all he made it very clear there where other things at play and again he should have gotten a shot. We can do this all day. With all you "sources" I would have thought you'd know about the Boyd situation as well?311neers wrote: ↑Wed Jul 17, 2024 7:37 amYou calling Banks a liar?
