Two observations-
I have never known West Virginia to be a baseball power
If we were losing football games by these margins it would be bad

We were a little more competitive today, we scored a field goal and they gave up a safety too. 5-18

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
WVU has had good baseball teams over the years - they were in the super regional a couple of years ago - playing in the Big 12 keeps their overall record from looking real good

Not counting this game APP is 240 out of 295 ERA 7.70
Worst is 13.11
49ers #226
Davidson #234
6 SB teams in the top 100
There's still time for improvement to happen...just needs to start quickly

Not to mention the plethora of walks. We have significant lead in the Belt in that category.

Methinks I won’t take as much heat for saying “Fire Kermit” this season.

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
It’s tough when the pitching staff is giving up the most walks and the least amount of KO’s….. that’s backwards to what it should be…… then you add in the extra base hits….. now you are in big trouble. Never mind that offensively that you are 12th in conference in extra base hits yourself…. That is not a good mix.

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
Without 2 or 3 top notch D1 level pitchers, App baseball cannot be a leader in the conference or anywhere.
It’s difficult at best, or nearly impossible to get a top notch pitcher to come to the “top of the mountain”. (In my opinion).
You can replace the coach, but you can’t replace the cold environment.
Years ago it was easier to recruit and keep pitchers. Social media and the portal have changed all that.

Doubt that he is fired. His contract ends this year. No need to fire him.

Re: 2023 Baseball Mega Thread
My feelings on Kermit is that he is a good coach in that he gets the most out of his guys and they play for him. He has proven to be an above average coach when he has talent to coach. Which begs the question, can he recruit talent or not. How much of that is factored into the location? At the end of the season, DG and Kermit could decide to part ways and that may not be a decision made by Doug.

I believe he’s also a solid coach, and an even better man, but the recruiting tactics are a bit odd from what I’ve been told. I do know we lost out on a legacy player recruit due to the fact that Kermit was too late to the game. Granted, said legacy player is a P5 arm, but we have to shoot our shot, especially for legacy kids that have interest in our program.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 11:28 amMy feelings on Kermit is that he is a good coach in that he gets the most out of his guys and they play for him. We will find out where baseball falls on the priority scale at seasons end.I don't know in this new era of NIL/TP what to expect.

He is a solid coach. But we lack quality arms to be competitive.311neers wrote: ↑Thu Mar 16, 2023 12:30 pmI believe he’s also a solid coach, and an even better man, but the recruiting tactics are a bit odd from what I’ve been told.
