Struck out a combined 18 Iggles. That helps.

Kermit didn't want to use Howell tonight with a five-run cushion in the eighth, but when Helms went HBP, single, single, he didn't hesitate to bring out Reed with two on and no outs, who then went K, K, pop out to 1B, K, K, K to finish the game. And only on 22 pitches so he could go tomorrow if needed.

Going into bottom of the 4th we're leading 4-2. Right off the bat (no pun intended) two singles in a row. Apparently Watts is tired, I'm thinking, take him out (given his history - usually good for about half a game on average). Well, once the score is 4-5 and not until then the change is made. Someone please help me understand, I just don't get this logic/recurring theme??? Help me out here, I'm not a pitching coach, are we really that weak in the bullpen? Once again, just a honest question from someone seeking knowledge.

Apps lose 4-6 due largely to the facts presented in the aforementioned post above. Also, cold bats from the 4th inning on didn't help either. Recurring theme. Oh well, it is what it is.

This team is so much further along than they were a year ago! They're competing in each game and no one on here is surprised when they win a game.

...the futures so bright I gotta wear shades!

Comparing 2017 to 2016
BA .227 (12th) 232. (11th)
HRs 25 (5th) 33 (5th)
Fielding .969 (8th) .962 (11th)
ERA 4.49 (6th) 5.35 (8th)
HRs allowed 16 (1st)* 35 (5th)
Saves 7 (5th) 5 (12th)
Opponents BA .287 (11th) .285 (8th)

* fewest allowed

Of course, the comparison is between a partial season and a full one. The clearest difference in the comparison is the improved pitching performance.
