Dang me, dang me
They oughta take a rope and hang me
High from the highest tree
Woman, would you weep for me?

This is the worst hitting team I've ever seen and I hope they make me eat my words in the next two months.

The Western game skewered our stats better than they should be. The Cats are 2-18.

I think part of the hitting problem is we have not had games consistently throughout the season. Too many rainouts and double headders. Where most teams have played 4 or 5 days every 7 days... most of our weeks it seems we have played just 2 days. Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday. Not to even mention home games being moved off the mountain. It wears on a team.

Hitting is timing and due to the inconsistency in games we haven’t developed a “routine” or “feel”... BP can only do so much.

I'm tired of this garbage on the diamond and the hardwood. I've spent a lot of time and money to watch a lot of losing in the last five years. I've heard excuse after excuse about the weather, how young the team is and so on.

We have football but we can't enjoy it because we expect too much. After a win this year a friend of mine freaked out because we didn't have a nose tackle commit. And then worry about the next week. And worry about the imperfecrions. There's no joy. I might just disconnect for a while for my sale of being.

Just keep being both a passionate supporter of all things App State Athletics and an honest reporter of the same and you will be just fine. You're doing a fine job, don't let the devil's advocates like myself or the trolls like many others bring you down. Don't disconnect.

Well, we did score a point in the first game thus far today. That's an improvement, I guess.

I don’t disagree. On the other hand, the current weather in Boone is 28 & snowing, while in Statesboro it is 73 & nice. Better to get those games played than to sit in the dorm in Boone waiting on the spring thaw.

Watching their grounds crew in shorts & t-shirts.... sic

Mark my words, we will never be competitive in golf, and it will be for the same reasons. No top-quality recruits will be attracted to a climate that does not support their sport during the season it's played in. As was mentioned, we could build a dome for baseball, but I don't see it happening.

Well, it was nice while it lasted. Another day, another scrimmage. The losses are really starting to pile up, no wins in Sun Belt play. Looking ahead there are five more road games before a home game is scheduled, hard to succeed when you're constantly on the road. Only excuse I can come up with.

Just a reminder...there are 18 new names on the roster this year. That's almost 2/3 of the total roster. Everyone knew this would be a re-building year. Yes, the reality is turning out to be more painful that we had hoped, but we have a coach who has built programs into championship programs before. I understand the weather is a challenge, but I refuse to accept that we can "never" be a successful baseball program. We've been there before. No reason to give up just because the process is painful. We knew that before the season started.

Hopefully we see some development as the season progresses. All the unscheduled road time has to make it a challenge to develop these young players.

I agree that the "weather excuse" is a totally unacceptable reason for "never" being a successful program. The weather in Watauga County is not going to change and will basically remain the same year in and year out. If weather is the reason we can't ever be successful, then I'd prefer to scrap the program all together and put the money elsewhere. However, as you said, we have been successful before. I hope our "pain" will eased soon.

With regard to the weather, both Maine and Stony Brook have been to the College World Series.

The results thus far are hard to take, but Kermit has built two programs into winners. I believe he will do the same here.

I said it before the system crashed; there will be a time in our future that everyone will agree Kermit is/was one of the all time greatest coaches to coach at App.
