Re: At UTA
Yes, congrats to the team for really playing well and closing out the second game. Coaches making the right moves, pitchers doing a very good job particularly the last three innings. We haven't had many games were we had
a one run lead late in the game and on the road. Team will be more confidant and hopefully we can close the season on a strong note.

I don't want to take too much credit but I purchased an official App baseball cap at the game I attended in April. We have been on an upswing since then, and I can't help but put one and one together.

Re: At UTA
I posted something that was taken, I think, as yet another piling on post, but mine was not written with that intent, though it was NOT written with a huge smile on my face.
I am glad of what is happening over the last few games. I don't think we have "turned the corner" yet but would rather win than lose anytime and happy for the win. I was not calling for tar and feathers, which is very rare of me for an App coach, and don't plan to eat crow now. By the time I am calling for tar and feathers for an App coach the powers that be and the people with influence (and money) have already done so and I am bringing up the rear at best.
(My earlier post was about being picked off twice in a row in the first inning at A&T, which is still frustrating, though we got back at the Aggies in Boone.)

Re: At UTA
I never was calling for tar and feathers, just telling it like it was. And, with that theme in mind, the team is definitely performing much better. Was the prior performance due to weather, injuries, youth, etc.? Or, maybe the team just got tired of losing! Whatever the reason, things are getting better. Hopefully they will finish strong and it will carry into next season.

Re: At UTA
It was a great week for App baseball and hopefully it is a glimpse of what may present itself in the future. It does put us in a position to make the SBC tournament and we go head to head with the team just a game above us next weekend in Atlanta. However, one week doesn't completely eradicate what has been a pretty dismal season to date.
I don't think anyone has doubted Kermit Smith's ability to coach but it takes talent to win. Ours is young and the jury remains out if the talent level is sufficient to be perennial SBC contenders. The next two weeks should give us a better sense of the future with the important road trip to Ga State and the final home series v. Coastal.

Re: At UTA
Are they doing anything either before they leave or after they arrive for the seniors that will not be able to walk for graduation? Or a small ceremony when they arrive back in Boone after the series.

Our signee, Primm, from North Gaston in Dallas NC is having a great year. If he does not get drafted and go pro he should be a good pitcher prospect next year.

Re: At UTA
People who criticize people for criticism are worse than those who bring up criticism in the first place.
It's okay to ask questions, especially when the team was on pace for their worst record in over 13 years. And I think those of us who were critical are glad the team is doing well now.

Re: At UTA
I think this post to WataugaMan from the first series back in Feb is pretty clear.
I have never once said people can't have an opinion or be critical. Just as stated, it's what makes the country great that we can all say whatever we want. And ain't that what a message board is for? My comment that got referenced was more about people being hypocritical than critical. And not just in baseball but most things on the board, especially over the past couple of years. We lose and posters come out of the woodwork to give us play by play comments. We win and it's crickets a lot of the time. If constant negativity does indeed give one a hunchback then there must be a lot of Quasimodo's running around out there in App State gear.firemoose wrote: ↑Fri Feb 16, 2018 8:31 pmNot offended. Honestly don't care one bit. I was making a joke based on past history with people on this board. I will choose my evaluation time of this team on my own and others can choose to do whatever they want to. And I don't have to give a flying flip what they think and they don't have to give two s#%&s what I think. That's what makes this country great.
