App BB v. Manhattan Jaspers (1-2) Fri. thru Sun. Smith Stadium
Ditto: From NCCU thread, only worse
Boone forecast: http://www.booneweather.com/Forecast/Boone
Depending on Manhattan's travel arrangements, a wet DH on Sunday might be possible. If they play, the Apps will get tested by a strong Manhattan (Metro Atlantic) program.

Schedule has already changed.
2 p.m. Saturday and a DH starting Noon Sunday. Don't like that 2 p.m. Saturday start due to MBB vs GS at the exact same time. Ugh.

Apps win 5-2. Another game using only 3 arms. Meanwhile, Tennessee is rolling.

Where are all the negative comments? I’m waiting for all the “coaches” who know everything?

Wins don't generally produce a lot of complaints.HighPointApp wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 11:39 amWhere are all the negative comments? I’m waiting for all the “coaches” who know everything?

Just like a three game set v. UT is not a fair measure to extrapolate for the whole season, I'm not sure one with Manhattan is either. That said, thus far it's a good way to open the home slate. What a difference a week and a different level of competition makes.

Agreed that neither UT nor Manhattan is a good gauge in determining where the season may or may not go. But, winning early does help build momentum.

Re: App BB v. Manhattan Jaspers (1-2) Fri. thru Sun. Smith Stadium
Here's a trivia point (although disputed). Manhattan College's Brother Jasper (the origin of their mascot) is credited with the "invention" of the 7th Inning Stretch. Baseball has a long tradition at Manhattan.
I agree that a series win or even a sweep shouldn't be extrapolated too much, any more than the loss to Tennessee should. It's very early, but it's good to see the guys playing hard and getting some confidence.

Awesome to see the bats waking up. Excited for the season.
Watching the broadcast online, which is great. However these poor guys announcing are brutal. I’m assuming they are students, and hopefully will get better...but it’s painful to listen to. Anyways, GO APPS!!

We have 4 homeruns so far and the game isn't over yet, regardless of opponent that's promising.

From what I saw in ut I thought they would be better hitters than some of negative postings I saw commenting that's why I responded and by the scores in Boone they can hit

Good win! Let's hope the bats continue to heat up with the weather. I agree on the game broadcast. Had to turn the sound down. Also with just the one camera they need to stay with a wide angle shot so that you can see the entire infield.

I hate to be negative. But is anyone else watching the broadcast and listening to the “play by play” announcer? It’s atrocious. On the air he admitted to not knowing the rules of baseball.
At one point the Manhattan pitcher stepped off the mound to look a runner back to 2nd. The announcer said “I’m pretty sure that counts as a ball, if I remember the rules of baseball correctly.
Literally every time he opens his mouth what he says is either wrong and/or he has to correct himself. He clearly has never played and not quite sure he’s ever watched a baseball game.
Again, hate to be negative but this is pathetic, and a terrible look for the school and program.
Hate to be negative, but my goodness my 8 year old nephew could do better.

Game three, top of the 4th, down 1-4. Getting off to a weak start.

I've had it on in the back ground and finally turned it down due to what you said and the unpreparedness of knowing either teams players. You have to get your start somewhere and not every one is ever good at what they do at first and if this is his path he needs a good mentor like David Jackson. Speaking of which I so hope he comes back one day...appstate24 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 24, 2019 4:52 pmI hate to be negative. Top of the 5th, down 1-5. Hope things turn around, however, at the present time it is starting to appear App is through playing ball for the weekend. Hope I'm wrong, maybe a temporary lapse.
