App's Davis Called Up to the Majors

The San Francisco Giants called up App State alum and outfielder Jaylin Davis on Wednesday. He was tied for No. 4 among all minor league players this season with 35 home runs and had posted 94 RBIs with a .306 batting average in 126 games.
Davis hit 25 homers and totaled 69 RBIs in 68 games at the Triple A level this season, including 10 homers with a .333 batting average in 27 games for the Sacramento River Cats since being traded to the Giants organization from the Minnesota Twins at the beginning of August.
Davis, 25, joins college teammate Jeffrey Springs, a Texas Rangers reliever, as App State alums on current MLB rosters. It's the second time multiple Mountaineers have been in the big leagues at the same time.
Davis, a Greensboro native, was picked in the 24th round of the 2015 draft by the Twins following three years at App State. He was recognized as a freshman All-American and the Southern Conference Freshman of the Year in 2013, when he had 12 doubles, 36 RBIs and 12 stolen bases for the Mountaineers. He set a program record with seven triples in 2014 and missed most of his junior season with an injury.
