I believe the newly crowned NCAA baseball champion -- UCLA -- is on our 2014 schedule. Sweet.

They won it the old fashioned way, pitching, great defense and small ball offense. Hard to believe they could get there with a team batting average around .250 going in and they only hit .182 in the CWS. Not a single HR, only 2 extra base hits in 4 games but they laid down a record 12 sacrifices. Their starters only giving up 21 hits, 5 walks and 3 earned runs in 34 innings, putting up a .80 ERA. Incredible!

they definitely won it with fundimentals and pitching, but, with the combination of "dead bats" that teams must play with, and a huge stadium where the ball doesn't carry well, I bet there wasn't 10 home runs hit for the entire CWS, kinda boring, I think the NCAA has gone a bit too far trying to "reign in" all the home runs that were hit with the old aluminum bats they used 5 or 6 years ago.

Can we just require that NCAA teams use wood bats? Very simple, very easy.

What you consider "kinda boring" others - like myself - see it as baseball in it's most pure form. I like the strategy game based on singles, steals and moving runners around the bases. But HR's sell tickets because baseball is too slow for most people in the fast paced life we live today.
