Sloppy defense plagued Appalachian State once again on Wednesday night, as the Mountaineers made three errors. Appalachian, which has led the Southern Conference in fielding each of the last two seasons, has committed 23 errors over the last eight games. During that stretch, it has had three or more miscues in five different games.

Losing the middle of our infield to graduation has really taken its toll defensively on this team. We also had a very reliable lead off man. Sometimes it is not the number of players lost to graduation but the quality of the ones lost.

Campbell was more focused, more into the game. App seemed casual and non-energetic. Their bench was vocal when at bat. I could not hear anything from our dugout.

Seriously not even a close game. Three of our first inning runs were the result of a throwing error which should have been a double play.

Something is wrong.

The excuses of a tough early schedule are over. They need to figure out a way to close some games out or the momentum built over the past 5 years or so will quickly be gone.

Tough loss. Hard to go 1-11 in baseball. Trying to keep things in perspective though. Our guys haven't played a home game yet.

Unfortunately I can relate...played in the early 90s and in '93 we started off 0-10. But you're right, that was the year of the big blizzard and we stared our first 31 games on the road...either at the opponent's site, or in Granite Falls or some other alternate location.

Without a thorough review of the entire athletic schedule, it appears ASU is 0 for the year v. Campbell. They have beaten us in basketball, wrestling, and now baseball. Can anyone remember a year when our entire athletic program was so weak?

You are right. On top of that, look what players have been lost in the last two years. Not easy to replace that lineup. That was an acc/sec lineup, both hitting and pitching, that comes along once in a generation at a mid major school. A couple recruiting classes back to back and a couple key juco transfers, that quite honestly, couldn't be replaced in two years. It was a perfect storm

No sir!

I can't remember a school year where our ENTIRE sports program did this poorly.
