I assume if the visitors can't get here they forfeit.

Joking aside have we ever moved a game down the mountain. Somebody has to drive up and down the mountain, and I say better them than us.

Final thought, is L-R playing basketball next weekend? Where else could we go?

Basketball is not at home next weekend. However, baseball is. I do believe we have moved baseball games off the mountain.

You are correct on both accounts. I was at work and did not look up the basketball schedule. I was thinking next week was home but it is the weekend after next.

Baseball has historically, at least since I've been following intently, had a few games, or a series, off the mountain at the beginning of the season each year. I know the guys have hosted games in Hickory, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, Forest City, Granite Falls, among others. I do see where they are playing Campbell in Asheboro this week, but are not the designated home team. I think it's always a great idea to play a few games off the mountain early in the season, especially if it exposes the guys to MiLB parks in ASU alumni heavy areas (like Hky & the Triad). I read an article a week or so ago how the Knights are planning to exponentially increase the # of college games played at the 1-yr old BB&T Ballpark in Uptown moving forward...so hopefully we'll be in the discussion moving forward.

On a side note check out how the Maine Black Bears practically move south for the first month or so of the season, leasing out the old Red Sox/Indians ST facility in Winter Haven to serve as the team's home base. Must be a nice reprise for all those guys, and a bit of a lure for the program as well one would think.

Yes, have moved games from Boone to hickory crawdads stadium under late notice. This was aside from the usual first three weekends being away.

I moved from the Greensboro/High Point area to Hickory a few years ago. I knew there were more App alums in Hickory; I must say it is very refreshing to see more App license tags, decals, etc., than I have ever seen in one place in my life...except, of course, in Boone. I would love to see the Apps play a baseball game or two over at the Crawdads place. And I also loved it when we played in the Triad. It's just a way of getting the games moved off the mountain until the weather gets better while at the same time reaching out to quite a few alumni and future students.

Rick might have to lease one of these before any outdoor baseball is played on our campus in the next week or two. It's been done before--just not for baseball.

They're playing in Lexington, SC this weekend. Not Boone.

However, App will still be the "home" team.

Not sure but Lexington, SC is listed on Canisius' website for the weekend series.

Appstatesports.com says a sports complex will be the host site.

We got a pick of fields with different dimensions at the Lexington Sports Complex.

The one in the upper right should help our HR count, though it could destroy an ERA.

We could change fields each inning and it would be like NCAA Baseball video game on the PS2.

Another weather note, Virginia is moving their weekend home series to Charleston playing 4 games on 4 different fields.
