Start of NCAA Baseball season
This was in this morning's Greensboro paper, though I could find a link so I will try the NY Times article.

Re: Start of NCAA Baseball season
This article was on D1Baseball.com this weekend. I don't like the idea of the season running that long. It takes away from summer leagues. MLB might have a say since they fill short season A rosters with newly drafted kids. These teams play upwards of 60 games already, why not just start the season later and play fewer games?

Re: Start of NCAA Baseball season
I tend to agree. I could see starting about a month later and shave off two weeks at the end. Two week shorter season for college. Rookie season could start two weeks later and run two weeks later as well so they break even. It would hurt summer college leagues a bit.AppSt94 wrote:This article was on D1Baseball.com this weekend. Would this be a plus for App or hurt us?

Interesting thought but I honestly don't know. It would help withe fewer cancelled home games. Not sure there is a negative. What are your thoughts?

In the end I think school sports should be happening during the school year, but that is just me.

Re: Start of NCAA Baseball season
I believe the season should start two weeks later. Look at the number of cancellations the last two years alone.
Start it the first week of March and end it by the last week of June. Take out a non-conference series and this works fine. Every other level of baseball starts in March or later, except the college game.

Re: Start of NCAA Baseball season
A 40ish game schedule is more than enough for college baseball. I agree, start a little later and finish earlier. Way too many schools get snowed out this time of year anyway and aren't many of those games usually not made up? Seems pointless. Weather is a given every year and affects most schools.
