When do we get to start speculating over the next coach?

Does anyone know the workings of Billy Jones' contract? How hard will it be for the AD to move on from him after the season?
This coaching situation will be one of the first big decisions for new AD Doug Gillin.
Here's my favorite: Kevin Ritsche at Winston Salem State. What he has done at the D2 level with an HBC is very impressive; winning 4 straight CIAA championships. I don;t know if a new AD from out of state will take a look at a local D2 school.
Some other names to consider: Kerrick Jackson assistant at MIZZOU. Gary Gilmore at Coastal Carolina. Scott Foxhall assistant at NC State.

Unfortunately, I believe he got a 3 year extension this past Fall that takea him through the 2018 season.
In BJ's 2.5 year career at App, we are 16-40 in games decided by 2 runs or less. Thats enough in my opinion to make a decision.

So if we let him go at the end of the season we would owe him that full extension.
Does this mean the buyout is the full $105,000 per year for a $315,000 total? That's tough. It looks like we are going to be watching some bad baseball for some time.
Do we have the kind of alumni-base for baseball that could potentially bail us out?

Apparently AppDawg has it to give!

Maybe some of the wealthy alum in the area that were behind the Capel hire could make up for their previous blunder.

Maybe the contracts should state: Contracts are subject to a yearly review by the members of the MMB.

I seriously doubt making a coaching change in baseball is on Gillin's radar right now. His main concern in his first year will be fund raising and getting basketball attendance up. Add in a $105,000 per year buy out for a sport that brings in little revenue and it's hard to make an argument for firing him.
We have a very young team that has shown potential so it's possible that they can gel and start winning these close games. If not then lets make a change in a couple of years.

We did actually win a game yesterday. I was beginning to doubt whether we would win another one this season.

believe me, if I had that type of disposable income I would give it serious consideration. As with others on this board, my biggest frustration is the lack of improvement game-to-game and now season-to-season. 2.5 seasons in baseball is enough to provide a good population where trends in the stats begin to have meaning. Unfortunately, those trends are ugly. If our record in 2 run or less games was closer to .500 I agree that an explanation of "youth" would have some relevance. But we are no where near .500 - there has to be something else in addition to simply "youth" to explain such a poor record (.285) in such games. This also ins't just a recent issue. It was there, though disguised in the 2012 campaign. Records by year in games decided by 2 runs or less: 2012 (7-13), 2013 (7-15) & 2014 (2-12).
Something simply isn't working and the only constant in each year is the coaching staff. Perhaps its not BJ - maybe its the pitching coach, I don't know. What I do know is something needs to change.

Much like this country, I don't feel like a member of our fanbase must be a millionaire to have an opinion.

True - but as you are surely well aware, being a millionaire makes your opinion a bit more relevant unfortunately.
