at South Bama Series
Lost 9-2 tonight. Middle innings and errors killed the Apps. It's always something.
Schedule change for the rest of the series. There will be a doubleheader on Saturday starting at 1:00 pm ET. Originally had game two scheduled for 7:30 pm ET on Saturday and game three at 1:00 pm ET on Sunday. The team would be lucky to take one.
Dobson and Atwood didn't play in game one. First game Dobson hadn't started all year. No word about why either didn't play.

Dobson is in the starting lineup today in his regular spot, but Atwood is still out.

Apps win game two 6-5 in 10. Had 5-4 lead going into the bottom 9th but gave up a run, but then got another run in the 10th and got their first Sun Belt road win.

Playing against a Sunbelt roster with a SoCon roster. Simple as that. 2016 will be better. Just ready for September 5. Go Apps!

Re: at South Bama Series
As discussed in another thread, this is putting blinders on. The SunBelt, is not head and shoulders better than the SoCon of prior years. In fact, they have both finished the seasons ranked in very similar positions with the SBC being better by just a spot or two on average. Nevertheless, still middle of the pack of all D1 baseball conferences.luvyosef wrote:Playing against a Sunbelt roster with a SoCon roster. Simple as that. 2016 will be better. I think the Cajuns success last year and obtaining the rank of #1 has significantly skewed the perception of the conference.
Do I agree we have line-up weakenesses? Yes. Is this related to a so-called "SoCon" roster - no. Baseball isn't impacted like football.

Re: at South Bama Series
It is possible for two conferences to be one after the other and there still be a large divide in the talent level.
And one one site the SB is RPI 12, which is at the edge of top 1/3 while the SoCon is 19 which is pushing the bottom 1/3 of all conferences. I think that spread is enough to state there is a bit of difference this year.

On the NCAA site there were 4 SB teams higher in RPI than the first SoCon team this year. The top and the middle of the SB seems to be a bit higher than SoCon this year. Not out the roof higher but a faster pitch here, a stronger arm there, and a faster runner here sort of thing. I don't have time to rank all the schools in both confs but there seems to be a bit more than a tad bit of difference in the level of play at least this year.

This is my very generic signature added to each post.

Re: at South Bama Series
This year, yes. There is a difference. 4 of the top 6 Historically good/strong RPI schools in the SoCon left the conference. Us, CofC, Elon and GaSo. I am merely saying the SoCon of the last 5 to 10 years has been on the heels of the SBC, therefore it is the one sport where there wasn't a gargantuan jump in the level of competition. Look, I realize the SBC is a slight step-up I was responding to point out that is not why our team isn't peforming. It is my opinion, and I hope to eat crow, our team simply isn't very good and I don't see it getting better with the passage of time and the calendar flipping to 2016.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:It is possible for two conferences to be one after the other and there still be a large divide in the talent level.
