Per Twitter, catcher Chandler Seagle (5-10, 175) of New Bern High School has committed to Appalachian State.

Also per Twitter, OF Drake Zupcic (6'0, 175) of Cuthbertson High School in Waxhaw and brother of Tyler, signed his LOI this morning.

I've heard some really good things about this kid. Could be a big pick up for us depending on how our replacement for Dowdy performances this season.

That's good news. So far at least three of our commitments are catchers or occasionally play the position. That seems to be a point of emphasis in our recruiting.

From New Bern originally and was a classmate of Former Diamond App David Towernicky. I guess technically he and I were classmates at App as well! I'll ask my sister who is in school at New Bern what she knows about Seagle. Like when local kids come to Boone!

firemoose, thanks for all the hard work, doing a great job. This kid is huge, add 20 lbs of muscle, and we have a real power hitter. Im excited about this recruiting class and the job Jones and his assistant are doing.

Katon Howard has foregone his final season in high school, enrolled at App State and is eligible to play this upcoming season.

this is the first i've ever heard of this. I know football players enroll early, but it's not like they go straight into the season lol. but hey, if he can help us out this year, awesome!
