Re: App @ UNCC
if our guys could only play with the intensity at other times that they play with in the last 4-5 minutes of games. I've noticed them really pick defense, etc. up at that late stage of every game...largely because of freshmen such as Robinson, Isaac Johnson, and Good. That reflects Fox and staff in that they pick it up and never quit. We will win games like these in the near future.

Not enough to win against a bad CUSA team. Same ole, same ole. Lucky for Fox he's charmed just about everyone on here personally so there won't be any "fire" tweets or MMB threads.
I've lost interest. Bowl game and pro sports until college baseball.

I don't have a dog in this fight but I will remind you what we've been through. We got rid of a guy who was winning but apparently not winning enough...and we replaced him with a guy who came for the second time to Boone to "put down some roots" only to leave 9 months later. Then we got his asst. coach because he was a Carolina Guy too and we were put on probation and left to die. I don't know the coach...ive met him but don't have an opinion. listening to folks talk about these freshmen makes me think we could be turning the corner...I will be patient.

I like Coach Fox. I think he's a good coach. I was just saying that given the circumstances I know for a fact that some people would be talking F word right now in the absence of personal impressions he's made.
Anyway, I don't think it's a scheme thing. Our players aren't as good as the other team 80% of the time. Brick city.

We will! We'll be back in Concord, specifically Kidd-Brewer East (Jerry Richardson Stadium), next fall teaching your 200 fans how to tailgate and blowing your sorry team out of the water by as many points as we want.Charfan wrote:As always nothing like a game with App to right the ship. Well, the 2-4 Kittymounts who lost soundly to NC Central and hung 38 points on Ohio State are up next. "Didn't quit" "Hung in There" and "Flashes of Promise" won't fly for that one. I really like Fox and am trying to be patient, but we've been so bad for so long, and without the likes of the Hartford Hawks, Montreat, and Milligan, we aren't beating anyone. "Making the Tournament" now means the Sunbelt tournament.

Re: App @ UNCC
Our basketball program has gone to complete shit. Due in large part to the coaching situation after Houston departed. It will take a long time not just to get the right team together, but also attract the somewhat decent crowds (Speaking from when I was in school). Crowds werent sold out, but they weren't as bad as they are today. I've said this on many other threads...we will not attract recruits needed to compete annually with the crowds we have at HCC.
DG told me they were looking for ways to promote sports other than football. Anyone notice anything different with the promotion of basketball?

Unfortunately we'll have to wait until 2018 to beat the crap outta them but I can't wait either. It'll be like Elon was back in the SoCon days. App comes to town and takes over.Gonzo wrote:We will! Yeah when I was in school we had a packed HCC present to see us beat UNCC. And it was back when they weren't awful./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote:Our basketball program has gone to complete shit.
