We beat Wichita State on national TV as part of the Bracketbusters series. We beat Arkansas the next year.app97 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 23, 2018 11:36 amdidn't we beat Wichita St and Arkansas that year too?MountaineerChemist10 wrote: ↑Thu Mar 22, 2018 7:52 amI truly believe we will be as good as we were in '06-'07. Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
Does a one year extension materially change the recruiting results for next year? If the answer is no, than no extension should be given at this time.

For whatever it’s worth, I don’t know how you cannot give at least a one year extension for doubling the number of conference wins... irrespective of what strife there is or how the players feel. You have clearly took a big step in the right direction. It should be rewarded.

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
I think it is naive to give an extension based only on the 4th year results of a 5 year contract. My metrics for ANY extension would have been based on annual goals established for the duration of the contract at the beginning, or since DG inherited Fox, as soon as DG took AD job. Meeting and/or exceeding goals would result in early extension (I.e. Satt’s contract) and under achieving would result in no extension or early termination.AppFan11 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 24, 2018 9:47 amFor whatever it’s worth, I don’t know how you cannot give at least a one year extension for doubling the number of conference wins... irrespective of what strife there is or how the players feel. Very simple, professional and would have established very clear expectations for Fox and his future at App.
In my opinion, we are not where we should be after 4 years under Fox. Year 5 would be his opportunity to flip the table in his favor. Make him deliver before he gets extension.
It’s only fair that Fox knows where he stands going into last year of his contract good, bad or ugly.

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
I havent read all the posts on this thread yet, but personally my minimum next year would be a winning record against DI opponents. That might mean 18 or 20 wins...i dont know...i'm not worried about post season tournaments...just have a winning record against your peers. I am happy with how we closed out this season 15-18 is not good but much better than the 9 win season the last two years

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
I truly expected more by now. The expectations by most are pretty low. As I have stated before, we have had success with our basketball program in the past so it's not impossible. Next year should be the determining factor. No extension should be given. The decision belongs to our AD on what Coach Fox needs to do to keep his job. I wish Coach Fox and his team well. I would love to see some excitement around the program. I think the students and alumni deserve it.

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
I hear the theory that if we don’t give an extension, it leaves recruitment and players in limbo about future years. I don’t mean to be sarcastic because I truly don’t understand: if we have similar results next year, .500+ in conference with some good wins, it seems like we’re in the exact same place next year with a decision and the same scenario as this year is in place—to extend or not to extend, and recruits and players in limbo. Please help me understand.

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
On a quick aside, anyone know of confirmed/rumored OOC games for next season (the Charleston tournament aside)?
I thought our schedule this past season was one of our better ones. I'd hope we continue to try and schedule Davidson, JMU, CofC, when possible. The Davidson game a couple seasons ago was a lot of fun. I was suprised there weren't more App fans in attendance, but the Davidson venue/fans are so great that it still made for a really fun experience.

We'll need to pack a big lunch for this wait. The SBC didn't release the conference schedule until last June 29th. Fox didn't release the APP OOC schedule until last Aug. 2.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 31, 2018 8:59 amOn a quick aside, anyone know of confirmed/rumored OOC games for next season (the Charleston tournament aside)?

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
Could be off base here but it's possible that the late add of the Puerto Rico Tip Off pushed the schedule completion back.asu66 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 31, 2018 11:38 amWe'll need to pack a big lunch for this wait. Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
Sign the man, we finished 5th in a good league this year. Coach is young and getting better. You don’t think K, Boeheim, Roy, Cal didn’t make mistakes early in and loose some dogs. jay Wright dominated the field this year only a few years away from a 13-19 season . . . Some of the players on this team he recruited going through that. Winning culture takes time and Fox is doing that. The man lives and breathes b-ball and is getting better, I say sign him to a 4 year deal now.

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
How can you give a guy with a 45-78 record an extension? The strong end of the season finish pushed back some termination talks on here, but you can't give an extension to someone that has nothing to show.

Trust in D.G. he will deliver. I do hope we don't have to schedule D3 teams again.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 31, 2018 8:59 amOn a quick aside, anyone know of confirmed/rumored OOC games for next season (the Charleston tournament aside)?

Re: 18-19 Hopes/Expectations
Not giving him an extension is cutting off your nose to spite your face. We have already heard stories about Coach Fox's contract status is hurting our recruiting, if we were going to making a coaching change it should have already happened. I think we should give him a three year extension with low buyouts on years two and three. It's a fair compromise that gives Coach Fox the opportunity to prove that his program has turned a corner and if not we will be able to move on without hurting the program significantly./\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 10:55 pmHow can you give a guy with a 45-78 record an extension? I'm not sure we are in a position to buy anyone out regardless of the amount. I could see a 1 year extension in anticipation of a strong season in 18-19 and then consider a longer one.

Sing it AppOrange.... couldn’t agree more. All the things he said and we are not Villanova or Cuse..... he’s establishing the culture and we saw a good glimpse of it this season.
