That's almost as bad as the brick throwing contest Virginia Tech and State had earlier today in Raleigh. The Hokies won by a football score of 47-24.

Good call. He’s had lots of success, has a former assistant with us already (Dixon), has recruited the Carolinas, and is from nearby Galax, VA.

It would be hard to get him for various reasons, but it's worth kicking the tires on Mike Young.
Wofford is ranked right now. Wah-ferd.

I didn’t want him last time because of their style of play. I was way wrong. I’m not sure we could have landed him even then, though, and I’m really not sure what incentive we could give him now.

The Youngs aren't leaving Spartanburg. CCobb, to his credit, did thoroughly explore the Young "option" after he finally internalized the message that Lutz was completely out of the question. Young's salary as a highly successful collegiate head coach plus Mrs. Young's compensation pkg as an elite profile PwC senior accounting exec made (then)/make (now) for some deep, deep family, community and professional roots.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Mon Feb 25, 2019 11:49 pmI didn’t want him last time because of their style of play. The WSJ actually did a feature story on this one. Young's message to Cobb was sincere thanks for your interest, but both of us have a storybook, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity here and we're set for life.

Sorry, I thought the reply was referring to my reply about Lundy at Queens, but then saying we should consider Young.

Two SoCon schools have been ranked in the top 25 this season with Furman and Wofford. Along with ETSU and UNCG they are strong at the top this season.HighlandsApp wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 10:30 amWe aren't going to be able get an existing SoCon head coach.

Re: Avoid Like the Plague
Lundy would be a fallback choice for me if we weren't able to attract our top choice. Conroy can pack sand. I can't imagine either of them being Gillin's number one pick. My number one choice would be Scott Cross, current assistant at TCU and former head coach at UTA. Knows the Sun Belt and had a good record at a school with very little basketball tradition before he took over there. The only drawback is that he's a Tejas native and might want to hang around until the right job opens up there.

Cross, a big yes! Jerry Moore was a Tx native. He never bolted and had several opportunities to do so. Yet, I certainly understand the concern.NoLongerLurking wrote: ↑Tue Feb 26, 2019 9:50 pmJeff Bzdelik is our next coach. Don't no y innywon is queddjinnin it.
We need someone who can right the ship, win over and build the fan base, win over our three '19 signees, sign our last '19 recruit and instill a culture of winning. Cross can deliver all those goods and more!
Bzdelik? Yer keyboard iz daft! Out wid it!

He's probably not too interested in moving to App FB right now.
Concerning Scott Cross and what he's all about. He's former head coach at UT-Arlington. Served a total of 12 years as HC there. He might entertain the thought of moving to App MBB based upon what's important to him.
From the Fort Worth, Tx STAR-TELEGRAM
"Cross, UTA’s all-time winningest coach, delivered the second-best season in program history with 22 wins in his contract year with a conference tournament and postseason still to come.
The terms of the deal have not been disclosed yet, but Cross said his only focus was the length and security of the deal rather than the salary.
“I’m not motivated by money,” Cross said. “I’m motivated by doing something that’s never been done before. I’m motivated by winning championships.”
Cross was making $200,000 per year during his last contract that ran from 2012-16, and it’s unclear if his new extension will increase that number.
UTA has gone 175-137 during his 10-year run as head coach. He’s the only coach to ever post a career winning record at the program that had fledgling success before he took over in 2006. He’s the only coach to ever guide the Mavericks to the NCAA Tournament."
