We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

cancel culture had yet to be invented
But it had.
Smothers Brothers were taken off the air over comments about the Vietnam War.
Pete Seeger and many others were cancelled right out of employment by HUAC.
IWW members and socialists were cancelled from speaking engagements during WWI. Eugene V Debs spent some time in prison and ran for president while in prison for a speech he gave.
THAT is cancel culture and it has been around for decades.
How about before the socialist version of cancel culture? ... that fits a little bit better.
Man. We had almost 24 whole hours to just bask in a great win, and you ding dongs had to come in and start spewing stupid “culture war” bull crap.
How bout, “2000 was the last time CoachRob or asumba95 read a book”?
Well this started to get personal really quickly ...
I would respond, "2000 was the last time Mr Craig was offended", but we all know that can't be true.

Ooohh, the socialist bogeyman rears it's ugly head! Be afraid, be very afraid.

This great athlete wearing number 5 sadly played his last game. I was a senior that year. I had a class with Rufus and remember walking with him and talking after class. I told him, "you'll be the man next year. We will depend on you even more." He was looking forward to it. It just wasn't meant to be. RIP Rufus Leach.

It was my first senior year at App. Remember making a bet with a coworker at Harris Teeter that they wouldn't lose by more than 25 in the first round, I lost.

I watched the selection show at Mike & Willie's (the team was there also). I was hoping we'd draw a shaky opponent we might have a decent shot against. When our name went up on the screen against Ohio State, the whole place went nuts (of course), but I just shook my head. OSU had gone to the Final Four the previous year and had been in line for a 1 seed before a couple of late losses. I held out hope... but not much.

Another bit of 2000 trivia: We were the unofficial "last place" team of that tournament, i.e., the team that beat us lost their next game, and the team that beat them lost their next game, etc., all the way through.
Michigan State > Florida > UNC > Tulsa > Miami > Ohio State > App

MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) did not exist... Think Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Avengers, etc... The first movie of MCU was
2008.

I am going to date myself here. My 4 years at App were also Bobby Cremins first four years as our coach. Over those 4 years I watched our team go from abysmal to an NCAA tournament. Basketball was amazing and Varsity Gym was consistently packed to 7,500 capacity. When the big rivals like ETSU, Furman, Davidson, or Western came to town it was huge. I think we are on the verge of getting back to that level. Congrats and THANK YOU to all of our players, Coach Kerns, our AD, and all support staff for an amazing tournament run. Future looks bright. Take the stairs and let's continue the madness in Indiana.
Just for fun go to YouTube and find an App State vs ETSU game played in Boone. Enjoy!

Not offended, just sick of people who can't separate anything in their lives from politics or "culture war" BS for five seconds. This message board specifically says "No politics" at the top of the page, but you just couldn't help yourself.

The Del McCoury band swung through Hickory that December.
I used AOL instant messenger.
The hornets were still the original hornets and were starting their best 3-year streak.
The Atlanta Braves were on top of the NL East with the big 3 Maddox, Glavine, and Smoltz. Leo was still rocking next to Bobby.
I actually don't remember where I was but I remember watching the second half...if I'm being honest I had us losing in the bracket.
