They came back 3 points....ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 9:49 pmIt’s all about the conference play. Back to a .500 record with a winning record in conference. Let’s go win some more like this one and maybe don’t let teams come back that much.

Good win Mountaineers over a thin SoAl team. Played Good Defense and Refs Sucked. Nuff Said. On to the next one.

Nice win but kinda felt like Kerns just about out coached himself. Nice job on attacking the paint.

Both teams had the same number of field goals and threes -we won it at the line.

Being up 62-44 with 6:15 left and then letting them get to 65–58 with 1:52 left isn’t a comeback? Am I missing a joke here? This game very easily could have had a different outcome due to that.

We'll need a repeat performance against Troy. Tonight was promising. I like the balanced scoring and the team play.

We thwarted that run and made foul shots. A comeback is different than a run.ArmantiWaterSafety wrote: ↑Thu Jan 06, 2022 11:41 pmBeing up 62-44 with 6:15 left and then letting them get to 65–58 with 1:52 left isn’t a comeback? One thing that may be starting to track in our favor is our strength of schedule.
App State SOS rank = 33
South Alabama SOS rank = 286
Perhaps our struggles in Nov and Dec will pay dividends going forward. It also, of course, is a good omen when when a big guy like CJ Huntley starts elevating his game.

Admittedly I have very limited knowledge of actual strategy in basketball, but it did seem a little reminiscent of a couple years ago when if a team wanted to get the game close again, all they had to do was a full court press and we'd turn it over 28 times.

South Alabama threw some odd defensive looks at us and our guys adjusted well. At one point, they were essentially in a 3 man zone with two guys playing man.

Re: MBB @ South Alabama: 1/6 8pm
That's what was unique about it -- it wasn't the triangle and 2. In a triangle and 2, generally there are two defenders on one player. They just had two guys playing aggressive man defense on their respective assignment and the other three just playing soft zones. It was really weird. They were trying to deny Delph and Forrest the ball when in this defense, but they weren't able to.
