NCAA has us at 25-5. Being regular season champions I would hope that would be good enough. I do wish we would stop the non-D1 games but I know why we do it.

They attacked our one big weak spot and out scored us by 8 during that time. The rest of the game we outscored them by 6, but it was just too much of a hole.

I am 100% on board with you. The NCAA tourney would have been icing on the cake, but fan interest was up, students are going to games (students are going to games!), and this team won a bunch of games where previous teams would have folded.
Losing absolutely sucks, but we had two shots to go ahead late and didn't convert after clawing our way back into it. We were a second half team all season and made up an 11-point deficit. We just didn't get the late heroics.

Anyone that says it's a wasted season is just showing how dumb they are. Not a single #1 has survived so far this year. We're the first SBC #1 to win a game in four years.
Re: MBB vs Arkansas State, Sunday, March 10, 6 p.m. ET, ESPN+, Pensacola Bay Center, Pensacola, Fla., Sun Belt semis
Did we play possum? No. Plan for the first meeting always was if we stayed in the game until late, then make a run at the win, but if we fell behind, rest up for Pensacola.MrCraig wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:48 pmPretty sure I saw something about Ark State not having 2 of their players last week.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 7:23 pmDidn't we lose Huntley either last year or the previous year in the tournament? Did the Arky coach play possum a week ago and basically give us that game?
You guys went crazy early in the first meeting and hit a ton of shots. Its very difficult to come back from behind a Kerns coached defnese. So it became sensible at that point to let the bench play it out and rest up and hide what we could for Pensacola.
Still, it took a crazy performance today just to win. Its hard to articulate how good you guys are, I can see why JMU lost to you guys twice. We had no answer for you guys most of the 2nd half and relied on our players making plays to win. I think we're in the tournament final a year before I expected us to make a run, so I have no idea what to expect tomorrow. We'll certainly be underdogs.
You guys deserve an NIT bid, hope you get it.

Free throws and rebounds......basically even in every other regard. 69% FT. Such a broken record point to end such an amazing season.
This one hurts. Pretty deflated. Gregory is a senior. Coach has shown us the way to build the stairs, now we've got to find what it takes to climb the final steps. Next season our starters will be senior heavy. One more ride before we have to build a new staircase.

Season not over. If we get NIT, when is the last time we were in NIT? It has been a minute or two
Although the season is not over, when building a program, seasons like this make it a heck of a lot easier for coaching staff to get HS talent and transfer portal talent.

We were also out rebounded by 8. Normally, we have a six rebound advantage on the glass. Their offensive rebounds hurt us during the comeback.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 8:02 pmThey attacked our one big weak spot and out scored us by 8 during that time. Honestly when you look at Kerns offense that is the problem. Our offense is unique and horrible.

I think we beat Harvard and Marshall in the CBI in 2010. Ok, yea the Jermey Lin game was a couple years later. Pushing 15 years since college, it all starts to run together sometimes. Maybe that’s it. It was the Donte Minter App team that made a little post season run. I do remember Jeremy Lin going off and not realizing who he was until he was hot in the NBA for that 1 year.RaleighApp27609 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 8:18 pmI think we beat Harvard and Marshall in the CBI in 2010. I would say those two things have greatly improved since Kerns took over.
