We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

MBB @ Old Dominion, Thursday 1/16 - 7pm
ODU leads the conference with a 4-1 conference record but their overall record is 8-9. They got off to a slow start getting blasted by Arizona and BC plus dropping a few head scratchers. Their only conference loss so far has been Arkansas State.

Re: MBB @ Old Dominion, Thursday 1/16 - 7pm
I had to suffer sitting by some of their fans 2 years ago. They’re the worst.
They appear to be a well balanced team generally going 8 deep with a few others stealing a few minutes. Get most of their points from the guards, SF. Their bigs aren’t a huge scoring threat. Robert Davis and Sean Durugordon are their lead scorers, but Durugordon appears to be more versatile and will be difficult to contain. If we can shut down one of those guys, we have a shot to win. Don’t expect us to shoot as well on the road as our past 3 games, so we’ll have to bring our best D to have a chance to win.

The team is still becoming a team, and nothing would be better than continuing the momentum on the road. It will be a difficult task mentally.

If we continue the stellar defense we should be able to make all games interesting. Kerns has shown the ability to get his guys to adjust to a variety of situations by mixing up defenses from his standard pack line to 1-3-1 and 2-3 zones. He’s mentioned in several post game pressers that his players have done a great job with personnel. They’re grasping the scouting reports and know the opposition’s tendencies. It’s been refreshing to see us get out in transition more this year and to see more fluidity in half court offense. Kerns has done an amazing job utilizing his new roster’s strengths…sign of a good coach.

We have really good coaches,a team of them within the team. This road trip is going to be tough but I know we will play to the buzzer . Hopefully we will shoot well and win a couple.

Exactly right. It's a testament to Kerns/staff/and the players who stayed that the team is statistically the second best under Kerns so far / way above most of the Jim Fox years. I think people forget how we'd have about one decent season every 4/5 years and now with Kerns these players are challenging consistently for league titles.
If the last few seasons are any indiciation the team will only get better as the season goes on. Tate is still leading the conference and if both him & Huntley are clicking in the SB tournament the team will be a very tough out.

Tate and Huntley have been awesome, but Dodd being able to run point and letting Tate play off the ball has been the catalyst, as well as Beaubrun improving and allowing Huntley to play the 4. If Beaubrun and Marcus continue to hit 3’s and become a legitimate threat from the arch when left open, that will open the offense even more forcing opponents to spread their defense out. Kerns had a plan and went out and found guys that fit his plan. He has a PG that runs the offense and doesn’t shoot 30 times a game, he’s got bigs that can knock down a 3, and FT percentage is up, too.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 3:55 amExactly right. I love that Huntley is getting to play outside more. He is a good shooter and it opens up the middle for tate to drive and score or drive and dish to legit 3 pointers. Tate is the first legit dribble penetrator that can keep his head up amd pass or finish in a LONG time.

Agreed, having a true PG running the offense this season is making a difference.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2025 7:27 amTate and Huntley have been awesome, but Dodd being able to run point and letting Tate play off the ball has been the catalyst, as well as Beaubrun improving and allowing Huntley to play the 4. Dodd allowing Tate to play off ball. Connor’s game coming on. Four bangers in the paint. Keep improving and we are in this thing.

Hot start. We’re running the break and our defense is stifling.

Extra heavy dose of Athena on the ODU commercial tonight. Good start, let’s keep the lead.
