Basketball Parking
Could someone explain the parking for basketball? Last year we parked in Rivers Street Deck and it's fine but I wanted to see about maybe parking in the Holmes deck for the next home game. Thanks!

Re: Basketball Parking
Yosef Club members can buy a pass for the new deck. The information is hard to find. I had no idea when I went up the the Troy game. Had to find out when trying to turn off f Rivers Street. The deck wasn't even half full while most fans had to walk with temps in the teens and strong winds. Not a fan friendly move.

Re: Basketball Parking
I think it is $100 for the pass but you also have to be giving at a certain level to Yosef. I don't remember the level but I think it was $1500.

Re: Basketball Parking
I'd recommend a Gameday Central page on the website with ticket information, parking options, hours the gates open and other FAQs.
Football, basketball, and baseball could use an update on communication to interested parties.

Re: Basketball Parking
We promoted this new 600 space deck as a way to make parking better for those attending basketball games. This has always been the number one issue with HCC. So now we have a solution, but we're going to limit it for no good reason without really getting that message out to the fanbase. That deck should be available to anyone with JET, University Drive, and Rivers Street deck being overflow for highly attended games. An average of 3 people per car would mean 1,800 fans could take advantage of the new deck. That's a large portion of our typical crowd. We had no idea the JET lot was an option because the sign on Rivers Street said only pass holders could turn onto Hill Street.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:33 pmWhat about it is not fan friendly?JTApps1 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 7:52 pmYosef Club members can buy a pass for the new deck. I agree it should be a benefit included with season ticket holders, but everyone else should have the option to pay at the gate. Last I had heard, there was going to be a level or two reserved for season ticket holders and then the higher levels would be available to other on first come basis. What happened to that plan? I'd be happy to pay $5 or $10 to park there on a cold night even as a YC member since I don't have season tickets. It's kind of like the talk of having a Club Room in the NEZ that never materialized and then they suddenly got rid of it completely. We're being asked to give more every year but getting less. We just do a lot of things that make it difficult on fans and/or don't show appreciation for those that support the program.

Re: Basketball Parking
Probably a dumb question, but is this a season-long pass or is it game by game? Also, do you have to have season tickets to purchase? We usually try to make the Saturday home games but couldn't make January work so I'm only buying single game tickets.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Tue Jan 21, 2025 8:22 pmI think it is $100 for the pass but you also have to be giving at a certain level to Yosef. Re: Basketball Parking
It would also be helpful to have the option to purchase parking along with your ticket, highlighting it just before you check out. I've seen this on other sites.

Re: Basketball Parking
It is a season long pass. Just like football, you get a hang tag to display in the window. Yes, you had to be a season ticket holder and give at the $1500 level or above to be able to purchase a pass.Wally wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:12 amProbably a dumb question, but is this a season-long pass or is it game by game? Two things our athletic department fails at regularly and miserably; 1) Communication 2) Concern for fans. It's been that way for so long that I've stopped thinking it will ever get better.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:10 amWe promoted this new 600 space deck as a way to make parking better for those attending basketball games. Re: Basketball Parking
Appreciate the response and I certainly understand the sentiment and your questions on the process are fair. As a season ticket holder, I can park anywhere on levels 3-6. I’m not sure how many levels there are but 6 seems about right. As to the unused spaces being used on a first come first serve basis, we need more information. For instance, how many of those spaces would be available for non pass holders on a per game basis? I don’t think that all 600 spaces are available for ticket holders, but let’s say 500 are and you sold 400 passes. That leaves you with 100 spaces for first come first serve. How do you manage that traffic flow to discern the cutoff to first come first serve while not clogging up the right of way for season ticket holders?JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:10 amWe promoted this new 600 space deck as a way to make parking better for those attending basketball games. I’m sure that there is a solution to be found but it’s the first year with the deck so there could be some unknowns that needed to be vetted before landing on an ideal plan to maximize revenue. To me, they could do something like Marshall and Coastal have done for their parking and create a purchase option on Paciolan where there are digital passes that can be purchased for unaccounted for spaces.
I’d encourage anyone with ideas that benefit the masses and the school to convey them via email to MAF.

Re: Basketball Parking
My solution would be to number the spaces. If there are 600 spaces and you sell 400 then you know 401 - 600 are available for first comers. PTB will just have to do away with festival parking.

Not sure if it applies to every game, but one-time parking was available in the Holmes Deck for the JMU game. We paid $15 to park there.

Re: Basketball Parking
Seems like an easy fix. I would prefer a purchase before you go option as to cut down on the traffic backup trying to get in.
