Conners should have been in down the stretch because Threadgill is afraid of his shot. They didn't have to guard him because he was not going to shoot

Threadgill great team defense, but please stop shooting.
True, but sadly it didn’t matter who was pulling the trigger tonight.

2/24 from 3 is the difference.
Although they are only 6/26….
Keep showing the coach’s fiancée though!!!
quit the 3. Take it to the rim and crash.

Jealous of their fan support. That arena is louder than Holmes has been this year. The public support is pretty good there tonight.
They have good fan support, no doubt. But I’m guessing ESPN2 has microphones in the stands to give it a more authentic sound. The product we’re used to from ESPN+ is more austere.
I agree. Mic placement is huge. With 2-3 mics around the student section Holmes would sound bigger, but it’s the number of non-students that impressed me. They had a lot of locals there.

I’m surprised we didn’t at least see defense for offense substitutions.

GG's fellas. You guys have a hell of a team. Difference in the game is we shut down the 3 ball and forced bad shots. Still, as poorly as you shot, the fact that you didn't lose by 20 is a testament to how good your defense is. If not for Kobe Julian in the first half, we're probably down 7-10 points.

Pinion finally got hot in the 2nd half to take the pressure off him, but full credit to Kerns for keeping this close. Heck of a job getting a team to play together this quickly with essentially a brand new roster

its a shame this is the portal era and half of the players on the court for both teams will probably be playing somewhere else next season. Could develop a rivalry pretty quickly if players stuck together.

We'll see you again in Pensacola I'm sure.

We're better than this. Ditch the 3 point crap and crash the boards.

Arkansas St is the best opponent I've seen in the Sunbelt this year both ways. It's tough to come out of a loss too positive, but I felt like a repeat defensive performance with more work inside or a better shooting night and App comes away with the victory.

It was nice to see strong play from our big guys, but it’s hard to win on the road when you start 0-17 from three.

Our guard play just wasn’t strong enough tonight.

Credit to you guys. We more or less played at a pace we wanted but you still prevailed. Your defense made our guards take some tough shots. Last night, your team was the more complete team.

Good news is we can’t shoot worse from 3, some of that was their defense, but we missed 6 or 7 wide open 3s.

Both teams shoot better next time, should be a good game.

Will be an interesting matchup if we see then again. Their guards will make it tough for 2 and 4 . The guards also impacted 12.He made some really difficult shots and did not really have open 3 looks.
7 and 15 will need to rise occasion in the next game as well as our Bigs are better than their Bigs.

We forced them to play at our pace and had a chance to win. We forced too many three's on a night we weren't shooting very well. I wish we had a chance to play them in Boone, but I suppose we'll have to go through them if we want to win in Pensacola. We can't let tonight carryover to Saturday. Beating ULM and wrapping up this road trip at 3-1 would be a big win.

Getting a top four seed is critical. We had an easier stretch coming up before back to back weekends with GS and Marshall. We play the bottom four teams five of the next six games, need to build a buffer.

GS has a tougher road with Marshall, Troy, and then both us and JMU twice.

Marshall faces us and ODU twice and tougher opponents in Ark St. and USA.

Texas St. still has both Ark St. and USA twice.

I think the games vs. Marshall will determine if we finish in the top 4.

I seriously doubt we have another game where our guards go 0-fer from 3.

2-27 from three, 7%. Feel like the law of averages caught up with us on top of solid defense. We shoot 35% on average, but the last five games it was:

Texas St 55%
CCU 44%
JMU 59%
ODU 27%
JMU 50%

Yeah, our 3 point shooting is similar. We'll have a couple good games in a row then have a really off game. We couldn't miss in the first half against Georgia State, but largely missed shots against you guys.

I get your defense is much better, but there really is something to the idea that its easier to stay hot when you are hot then becoming hot when you are cold.
