I believe it was significant. But I doubt he gets paid by Georgia next year, so assume he’ll transfer elsewhere, but not sure he’ll get another significant NIL offer elsewhere. I’d think riding the bench for a terrible team diminishes his NIL value.Bigdaddyg1 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:07 amHow much did (3rd from the bottom of the SEC) Georgia pay our big to play 9 minutes a game and average 2 points and 2 boards? I’ve seen $100k thrown around on this board. He will see some minutes down the stretch. He played great vs Auburn. They were ranked 3 weeks ago but the wheels fell off (all losses are Quad 1). While I don’t think they’re an NCAA tourney team, they might be 2-3 wins away from on the bubble. His best bet is to probably stick it out at Georgia or go back mid major.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:55 amI believe it was significant. Or perhaps someone is claiming something that isn't true, another poster corrects them. It's called a discussion, are you always this easily offended?
Clearly vinegar.

The portal is both a blessing and a curse. Sure you lose guys that are looking for NIL, but it also allows you to get rid of a few bad eggs that aren’t good fits.

I think what makes both attractive is that they both have 3 years of eligibility left.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:00 amIf talking poached for money from another mid-major... potentially.
Not sure I see them getting Power school looks yet....maybe Wilson as they see the project and desire as transformed his body, etc.
If both have great years next year....could see Power schools entering the picture next year
Could be wrong...just my opinion.

Wow. Had heard alot less.
Spillers had a big year at Wake so his value should go way up.

Of the two, not sure Marcus has shown enough this year. With that said, we have crazy deep pockets in the current environment. Who knows...hope we keep both... and given size ...would be nice to see Marcus be more consistent at mid range or 3 pt line.

I can't imagine Morris and Wilson leaving for a program in which they'd likely get less playing time, aka the ones that pay more. Hopefully the Abson story shows the downside in transferring, especially that lesser amount current players would command.

All but Abson were starters at their new school. Marsh at UNCA, Harcum at Murray State, Spillers at Wake, Mantis at Maine all are starters. Abson at UGA is a backup. Brown starts at 26-4 D2 Dallas Baptist.

it was a joke referring to your sauces comment, not that serious at all...honestly an attempt to lighten the mood in the "I'm right, you're wrong" camp, which is generally not productive discussion at all.Saint3333 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 10:11 amOr perhaps someone is claiming something that isn't true, another poster corrects them. Abson was 4-7 from the field with 9 points, 5 boards, 2 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal in 21 minutes vs Auburn on Saturday. I didn't see the game, but it appears that he's made some progress at UGA.

The black-and-gold tinted glasses really show when we start talking about basketball. I love App as much as anyone, and I wish all those guys still played for App, but all of them improved their situation.311neers wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 10:01 amI’ve seen $100k thrown around on this board. Georgia is far from terrible. I live 30 minutes from Athens for 12 years now, and there's never been as much buzz around UGA basketball as there is this year. They've played 13 ranked teams and beat 3 of them. Every SEC home game has sold out. If a 16-11 record and the #31 hardest strength of schedule make Georgia terrible, what does that make App (17-11; 185th SOS)?

UGA is Georgia Southern fans’ favorite team so I can’t say anything nice about them.

Justin is playing 9 minutes a game averaging 2 points, 2 rebounds, < 1 block.
UGA is 16-11, but 4-10 in the SEC or 13th. The only thing better about his situation is the $100k he received. That's a business decision that 9 out of 10 players will make, but he didn't land in a utopian situation.
Spillers on the other hand is averaging 1 point and 1 rebound less playing for a 19-8 4th play ACC team. That is a solid outcome for a player.

Unrelated to Abson’s play, but Georgia was on fire to start the season. Took a big time turn for the worse once they got into conference play.NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Mon Feb 24, 2025 9:55 amI believe it was significant. Re: MBB vs Marshall Sat, 2/22 1:00pm
UGA may be 13th but they are still closer to the tournament than we are just based on general odds with at-large bids. He is getting more exposure for the next level, 6 figure salary and has a higher chance to play in the tournament. Same thing with Spillers. There should be some sort of realism here.
