Our answer to that run was probably the second most impressive stretch we've had in a game this year behind only our finish against High Point.

What another incredible coaching job by Dustin Kerns. So fortunate to have this man.

High point and Troy are our two biggest wins according to NetRankings. Charlotte is up to 155 and winning/leading the American conference now.
Kerns does a great job...I wish the students would go to games and have some fun.

Yes it was a big win. It was probably our best game this season. This was also our best defensive game. And not just for a half but for the entire game. Coach Kerns had these guys ready right out of the shoot. It was awesome to see Troy substitute all their starters with about four minutes to go in the game. Essentially putting up the white flag of surrender. And to do it on their home court.... what a good win. I think coming into the game, Troy starting five all averaged double figures. They ended the game with one guy with double figures. Just an outstanding team effort.

I live in Montgomery now so I drove down to the game with my wife. I was blown away by how good we looked. Troy fans were nice as always. Coach Kerns high fived me after the game which was cool.

Troy put attendance as 3,256 on the official report. Ain't no way it was even half that.

Did anyone notice the "Inflatable bouncehouse" and "Inflatable slide" inside their arena for children? I thought it was an interesting concept to bring families in.

How good they can be together ultimately remains to be seen, but the team looks like it’s coming together. I hope Kerns is already working these guys to come back next year! They could be a special bunch. Marcus, Brim, Banks, and Wilson could really do damage in the Sun Belt with continuity next year.

To me, most any win on the road is a great win.
Loved our D most all of the game..
Wilson and Tot had zero points.. realize you had the prayer from deep on shot clock. He was like 0-9 until that point. Jennings saved the day for sure it was good to have Banks actually see some shots go into the basket.
Who knows how the rest of season plays out, however, we appear to be moving in the right direction as we head into the last full month of conference play. Will be interesting to see two tough D teams play each other when we play So. Al

Regarding Kerns, raise your hand if you thought playing a four-guard lineup for long stretches would be successful. And that we would out-rebound Troy by nine.

Speaking of capacity. Are we ever going to decrease capacity for some box suite additions and standing room areas? Think this would be a great idea if funds are there. We don’t need 9k or whatever it holds.
We can shed some sections/seats and still host big events like graduations.concerts with 7000+-.

Re: MBB @ Troy 4:30 pm 1/31
It seats 8,325. How much space/how many seats would we have to remove to make it worth our while? Remember, we do not have a big graduation ceremony outside. We had snow showers and a biting cold wind the morning of my graduation (yes, I was a May graduate). We need the increased capacity for some events that are vital to a university. That’s a drawback to a having multipurpose facility such as ours.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 10:21 amSpeaking of capacity. That said, I wouldn’t be opposed to some renovation to include some premium spaces, if there is a market to support it. I’m not sure there is. ODU has a great set up with premium seating around the top. Still, is the juice worth the squeeze? I really doubt we could recoup the cost it would take for construction.

I’ve been the least complimentary person of Kerns. However, it does appear this team is playing better. I am cautiously optimistic because for decades I have been to this point many times only to see the team fall flat on their face. I will say : if they continue to play at this level , we can win the sunbelt. Sadly though, if Troy was the class of the conference, winning the conference ain’t much to crow about. Good wins during this stretch, keep it up!!!!

I mean he's never had a losing record after a decade of losing records ..he's been to the NCAA tourney ..he's won the conference tourney...he's been to the nit...he's won the regular season...the best regular season app has ever seen...I just don't see how people could complain at all about kerns...and this year we could possibly win the reg season again...and who knows what could happen in the tournament...all with a revolving door every season with the portal

Great idea! Big question: difficulty/cost of engineering and construction that would be required.AppinVA wrote: ↑Sun Feb 01, 2026 10:48 amIt seats 8,325. App doesn't have much venue space available for meetings and events, and the new parking deck would make any new venue spaces very attractive. And we all agree on the value of smaller capacity arena.
