Not true because he's turned us down or not true because Cobb hasn't chosen him/engaged him in negotiations?
I'm going to guess it's true but App doesn't want to confirm either because the deal isn't final or they don't want to make a major announcement late on a Friday afternoon (read: news graveyard).

Also didn't help that it came a few minutes before the start of the Spring Game, if indeed it's true.

If it's true...yeah! He was my first choice but I would have thought it wouldn't happen. Now I see the father wanted the son to take over and davidson wanted the dad to stay.

Man, thought we could at least get a head coach from a smaller school. I was way off.

If Fox turns out to be the hire, I think it could work out well....at least I hope so! As pointed out in another thread, Davidson's program has accomplished exactly what App should be setting out to do and Fox has apparently been right in the middle of it. We can only hope that he makes a smooth transition to the HC desk.

Obviously, a lot of people are comparing him with Matt and would still prefer to see Matt return to Boone. I would certainly be happy with that hire as well, but I can't help but believe that there are risks associated with that option that some are not discussing. The MBB is due for a major overhaul and there are no guarantees associated with any hire. Hiring a popular alumnus/former player in this situation presents challenges because, in the event that he struggles, the decision to make corrections is even more complicated. Part of me hopes that Matt remains close to App and, at some point he gets the opportunity to be our coach. In all likelihood, it will only be a few years before we are in the market again, and hopefully the risk/reward situation will be more favorable for the return of McMahon.

Just a thought.

I would think we would be very happy to get anyone from that program.

With Fox coming in, the APR issue should be fixed quickly. He would also run a tight ship and get rid of some of the dead weight currently in the program.

For what it's worth, sounds like people around CBB know who Fox is and think he's ready to be a HC:

(Not really any actual info on Fox, but he is mentioned.)

From the cited article:
"Jim Fox, Davidson. It always boggles the mind that mid-major schools don’t hire more mid-major assistants. Who is better equipped? The high-major assistant who panders to AAU guys for top players? Or the coach who has discovered and recruited unpolished gems? Fox has been Davidson’s linchpin as its made six NCAA tournaments the past 12 years."

There were 29 job openings this year. Only Wojciechowski and Fox (if he is indeed the new coach) out of his list has hired. Given there are still 12 jobs open, but so far his batting 1 for 16 batting average doesn't look good.
