We didn’t make plays at key times , instead we turned it over or got fouled but missed the free throws. Problems in the paint continue, when Troy needed a bucket they made it into the lane and got it. When Delph and Gregory attack the basket good things generally happen , we need more of that and a lot fewer off balance threes. This was a game we could have won .

We are now 8-7 against D1 competition. Of course, two of those losses are against SEC teams.

Despite the disappointing weekend, we still are just a 1/2 game out of first in the East.

The separation in the SBC is minimal, look at GS/CCU yesterday.

That is due to inconsistent play by all.

This second Troy game wasn't quite how I expected the team to lose. It felt like we got out hustled a bit at the end / guys were a bit fatigued which hasn't seemed to be the case for most games. The foul trouble also dampened our already limited rotation. The Refs were calling offensive fouls left and right.

Most the other games broke our way this weekend so the team is very much in it, but Georgia St will be tough this weekend if the games get played at all.

This from the Sun Belt board:
"Here's what the East Looks Like, Broken Down with home conference record and road conference record:
Coastal 5-1, 1-2
App State 5-1, 1-3
Georgia Southern 4-2, 1-3
Georgia State 1-0, 1-3
South Alabama 2-2,1-3
Troy, 2-0, 1-5"

We are not the only team to perform poorly on the road. That may not be good news for us moving forward as 5 of our final 8 are on the road.

The Sunbelt is so evenly matched...Free throws and three point percentages seem to be the difference. You are either hitting them or you are not. We had plenty of looks but nothing was falling, including free throws. The free throws are what is so disappointing. One of the players would not play for me....not that I will ever be a college basketball coach (LOL). Attitude can bring a team down. Any team...A sales team, a production team or a basketball team.

Did we ever lead? Just didn’t look good in any facet. Hitting free throws down the stretch would have given us a chance even though we were ice cold from the field. Big loss. Very disappointing.
We did not, got it to 1 possession several times, just could not make a play. Shot awful, played good D, the ball seemed to go to troy on every loose ball. Not our night, sux, great opp to pad our lead.
While I agree with you that we didn’t catch any bounces, we have to win these games. Troy was a 6 win team walking into tonight. If this were App football and we laid an egg versus a last place conference team, we wouldn’t be on here saying “not our night”.

Sorry, I’m not picking on you even though it sounds like it. Purely unintentional. Just got me thinking.

We haven’t been a “top 25 mid major” since 2010 for a reason. We’ve gotta be more consistent to keep the fanbase engaged.
Just answering the question asked if we had led . . . and a few obvious take a way's from the game, no offence taken and I don't see you "picking" on anyone. With that said,
We have not seen and I cant see us continuing 28% from three and 50% from the FT line. One game, ok sucks, but I cant imagine we see more than 1-2 of those stinkers a year, not from this team.

I agree. Attitude. Talent is either enhanced by it or denigrated. I see the latter.

If we want to become one of the best teams in the SBC we can't continue to use the excuse that "others in the SBC" are doing the same. That doesn't cut it.

Also, I don't understand why we are pathetic at the free through line. As a team we should be about to make 75%. I used to play rec league when I was young, and I am not that good and I could make 75% from free throw line. These guys have no excuse. That is why they call them FREE.

Actually going into this game we weren’t pathetic at FT line. We were first in the conference prior to weekend.

Going into weekend, as first place team playing last place you want to sweep series, BUT I figured WORST case we get a split. A split would have at least salvaged some good from bad and been explainable. But dropping both games is what really kills us.
