Let's not act like the program was going places under him^ either.AppinVA wrote:
Miss me, yet?
Fancher also had nine years to accomplish all that, and even after the dream season of 2007, we couldn't find a way to get in the NCAA tournament. Yes, he had the program on a much better track than Capel has it now, but let's not act like everyone was singing his praises when he resigned.AppinVA wrote:Yeah, but I there's only one place we're going now, and its not to three North Division Championships, a San Juan Shootout title or a NIT bid.

They attract a similiar student as Elon and have about the same price structure from what I can tell.ASU-FTW wrote:I'll be tuning in via GoASU TV. I was thinking I heard a rumor they are looking at adding football in the future, though it may be the FCS non-scholly version.
Agree with everything except the Buzz part. Bringing him back was a huge mistake. We already knew he was a putz and to expect him to behave any differently was naive, at best, and stupid, at worst. Buzz is, and always has been a cheap whore who will leave at the drop of a hat if he thinks he can make more money. I took particular delight in seeing that he lost by almost 50 to Richmond last night.cbarrier90 wrote:Fancher also had nine years to accomplish all that, and even after the dream season of 2007, we couldn't find a way to get in the NCAA tournament. Hiring Buzz was the right call. Not ponying up the cash to keep him here and prove we were serious about having a contender in basketball was the mistake. Replacing him with an assistant who only had one year of college coaching experience made the problem even worse.
The problem is that Capel is really caught in a no-win situation unless he can magically get this team to right the ship by the time SoCon play starts and Mike Neal is back in the lineup. For a coach that has been at the head of some of the more underachieving teams in Appalachian history, having only two seniors and turnover on nearly two-thirds of the roster isn't exactly a recipe for success.
Houston could've,made the Sweet 16 and lost to Kentucky in triple overtime, and some here would've wanted him on the next bus down the mountain.cbarrier90 wrote:Fancher also had nine years to accomplish all that, and even after the dream season of 2007, we couldn't find a way to get in the NCAA tournament.
