The Big East is a power conference in basketball. Their teams are always going to get the benefit of the doubt.EastHallApp wrote: ↑Thu Mar 07, 2024 10:46 pmPrior to that game, Joe Lunardi and Jerry Palm both had Seton Hall in the play-in round. Even after that win, they are 63 in the NET.
Also prior to the game, Lunardi had Nova as one of his last four byes, while Palm had them out entirely.
Now, I would argue your guess is as good as theirs. But I don't see how anyone can say definitively that both are in.

You would've thought so, with the added benefit of the Oregon State win helping our SoS a bit.agentpaul001 wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 5:29 amOregon St beating Utah last night was certainly helpful for JMU's edge case. They could very well pass Utah in the Net Rankings with today's update. They could still pretty conceivably move up to a Quad 2 loss if they can grab another win or two.
In reality, Utah only drops one spot for losing to a 12-17 team ranked 160 in the NET. Must be nice.

I foresee head coach vacancies in the very near future at N.C. State, Vanderbilt, Temple (coach in 1st year but trouble there), Miami (retirement rumors), UT Grand Valley (the coach who did fairly well at APU). I’m sure there are others already. The rumor mill is about to heat up. I hope nobody gets our coach.

Toledo is about to win the MAC outright. Kent State lost its last two.

Gotta be Asheville, right? They are the #1 seed in Big South, them winning their conference Tourney helps make that loss not look as bad, right?NattyBumppo'sRevenge wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 12:06 pmAsheville vs Gardner Webb, who do we pull for?

Early Scores of Interest:
FAU-92 Memphis-84
Memphis was on the bubble watch, got to think they have played their way out of the Tourney. Memphis NET is 71, 2 behind App. So you feel safe about being ahead of Memphis. They just need to lose in the Conference Tourney.
St. Johns- 86 GTown-78.
ST. Johns RPI is 37. You have to assume that they are in, which takes a spot away from a SB team.
High Point, (#1 seed in Big South) lost in Quarterfinals. Opens the door for UNCA.

South Florida, already #73 in the NET with one Q1 game all season, loses to #196 Tulsa.

I think St. John's is still squarely on the bubble. Though probably ahead of both us and JMU, unfortunately.CoachRob wrote: ↑Sat Mar 09, 2024 3:07 pmEarly Scores of Interest:

Villanova also loses at home to Creighton. Their NET will still be fine, but at 17-14, surely they need at least a win or two in the conference tourney?
All that said, whatever at-large hopes we have (if any) will not be helped by the narrow escape against a 9-24 opponent today. Our own NET is borderline disqualifying, and I'd expect we drop tomorrow. I'm going to assume we're auto bid or bust and hope I don't have to think about it after Monday.

I think we have to win.....but...I think JMU can lose to us in the finals and get an at large. That is what I am pulling for.

Re: Basketball Scores of interest Final 2 weeks
There simply won't be enough chaos to allow us to get an at large bid. There will probably be at least 6 power schools with 10 plus losses in the field even if all of them lose their first games in their tournaments. Some will be locks no matter what

Where are people getting this JMU at-large bid talk from?
I've not seen it on any major sports news bracketolgy or predictions. Not even a mention of a last four out.

I think The Breeze bracketology page has them as a possible 1 seed based on their regular season record.
