I'd be surprised if we had 400-500 passes given normal attendance, but lets go with it and say we have 150 spots available. That's going to be roughly 1.5 levels of the deck for non-season ticket holders. Give your cashiers 150 tickets to sell and have them inform single game buyers they have to go to floors five and six. Tell them if any car without a hang tag is found below those levels they'll be towed. Have traffic enforcement ready to put out a lot full sign on Hill Street once you're close to selling the 150 spaces. Redirect those in line to the JET lot across the street. If JET is also full, have them drive up Hill Street to ether turn around or park in that lot. Wave them through on the way back down just like one of residents that live up that street. It just takes a slight amount of coordination. They should be able to handle a few hundred cars if my company can park a few thousand cars for events on a regular basis.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:52 amAppreciate the response and I certainly understand the sentiment and your questions on the process are fair. As a season ticket holder, I can park anywhere on levels 3-6. I’m not sure how many levels there are but 6 seems about right. As to the unused spaces being used on a first come first serve basis, we need more information. For instance, how many of those spaces would be available for non pass holders on a per game basis? I don’t think that all 600 spaces are available for ticket holders, but let’s say 500 are and you sold 400 passes. That leaves you with 100 spaces for first come first serve. I agree it should be a benefit included with season ticket holders, but everyone else should have the option to pay at the gate. Last I had heard, there was going to be a level or two reserved for season ticket holders and then the higher levels would be available to other on first come basis. What happened to that plan? I'd be happy to pay $5 or $10 to park there on a cold night even as a YC member since I don't have season tickets. It's kind of like the talk of having a Club Room in the NEZ that never materialized and then they suddenly got rid of it completely. We're being asked to give more every year but getting less. We just do a lot of things that make it difficult on fans and/or don't show appreciation for those that support the program.
I’m sure that there is a solution to be found but it’s the first year with the deck so there could be some unknowns that needed to be vetted before landing on an ideal plan to maximize revenue. To me, they could do something like Marshall and Coastal have done for their parking and create a purchase option on Paciolan where there are digital passes that can be purchased for unaccounted for spaces.
I’d encourage anyone with ideas that benefit the masses and the school to convey them via email to MAF.

Re: Basketball Parking
I used that number for discussion purposes only. I don’t know how many they actually sold but I know that my tag requires me to park between 3-6. I’ve never gone higher than 4 so I don’t know how crowded 4-5-6 are. Perhaps they are doing a test run this year to gauge what they have going forward. That’s a question for someone in the MAF to answer. They may want to entice folks to buy the season pass. They may not have enough available inventory to justify the manpower needed aside from what they have.JTApps1 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 3:34 pmI'd be surprised if we had 400-500 passes given normal attendance, but lets go with it and say we have 150 spots available. As for the pay at the gate option, I’d prefer to have an online purchase before you arrive. From a purely selfish reason, if I’m rolling in from Davidson at 6:15 on a Thursday, I don’t want to be sitting in line waiting for someone to pay for a spot and then hold up traffic with a million questions.
I don’t have an issue with your proposed solution. Perhaps contact them and ask them how difficult it would be to implement.

Re: Basketball Parking
Chick Fil A does a pretty robust fast business with a "Credit Card reader". I would think we could charge 10 bucks per car and make more money than trying to sell a 100 parking pass. Just my opinion. You still could have the 100 parking pass for the bottom floor. I am glad we built the deck it was needed for both basketball and football.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 10:52 amAppreciate the response and I certainly understand the sentiment and your questions on the process are fair. Spillers is being paid more than our entire 24/25 roster. Maximize the deck revenue as best you can Doug.

This is another simple/easy way to increase revenue.
So, forgive me if I don’t have faith in Gillin to take advantage of it.

Re: Basketball Parking
As frustrating as it is for fans about higher pay for players for other colleges....think how frustrating it is for a good coach that cant beat another team even though he out coached them. It has to be tough to move up now in the coaching ranks. I feel what Kerns has done this year is short of a miracle.

Re: Basketball Parking
A one-time $15 parking fee in the Holmes Deck and a $10 convenience fee on single-game tickets (both of which we are currently doing) are smart ways to generate revenue. Kudos to Gillin and his staff.

Don't guess I'll be attending any bb games. I'm 72 and small Yosef Club contributor. It would have to be a warm day for me to have to park and walk some distance to Holmes.

Re: Basketball Parking
For the JMU game, the sign at the Holmes Deck entrance said “season-ticket holders only.” But as we were about to drive to another parking deck, the attendant said we could also park at Holmes for the afternoon for $15. Would have been nice to communicate this better, but at least it was an option.spacemonkey wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 7:32 pmCan you explain the "one-time 15 parking fee....??AppGrad78 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 12:59 pmA one-time $15 parking fee in the Holmes Deck and a $10 convenience fee on single-game tickets (both of which we are currently doing) are smart ways to generate revenue. Exactly. 1st game of the year I was told you had to be season ticket holder and Yosef member above a certain level. I argued a little because I am above the certain Yosef Level. They told me NO.
Can someone in the know tell me the options now???

Re: Basketball Parking
They were doing $15 to park at the mid week games this week for the deck. Saturdays weather looks to be decent, at least not frigid.
