I am an App fan first and foremost. Given the choice between Duke and UNC, it is Duke all day.
Coach K is one of, if not the, best coach of all time, and a class act, and they don't have to make up fake classes to keep athletes eligible,
The "dook" title is a telltale sign of an immature and jealous UNC fan.
UNC-heat. Go ahead, I will wait...
It is a proven fact that UNC created fake classes to keep athletes eligible.
I never said fans of other teams couldn't poke fun at Duke, but how can anyone logically diminish Coach K's achievements? Over 1000 wins, 5 national championships, coaching the US Olympic team to multiple golds, etc.
although they are not a public institution, they are still governed by the NCAA, and if substantial claims or evidence presented itself, they would have to answer to any infractions. What has happened in K's glass house that he was protected by the lack of transparency?
Are you just angry that Duke can recruit the caliber of player, both on and off the court that they do?
I think anyone who brands a school by an incorrect and sophomoric nickname disrespects the school and the players.
I'm not a UNC fan, but I can give Roy williams his due. He is a good coach and a good man from everything I have seen. UNC consistently puts a great team on the court. Just because I do not personally like the school or team does not mean I will disrespect the entire organization by calling them immature names.

Of course he said he attended a camp in Boone. I suggested that he might want to REALLY consider spending 4 years at a certain university...bcoach wrote:Smart boybigdaddyg wrote:I root for all 4 NC big boys- after App. Grew up a Wake fan so I am Switzerland. Re: @ DOOK
Apps trail 51-31 at the under 4 in the first half. Duke is lighting it up from three, but we are making intelligent decisions offensively, though we aren't finishing well enough to make a dent. Against a team that's not expected to make the final four, we will be okay. Not happy at the score, but we are well coached.

Duke is 6-14 from 3. We are 5-9. They have actually shot terrible from beyond the arc after making their first 4.
I am actually impressed with our insde game. Not all shots have fell, but we have had good looks.

It's 55-34 at the break. It's frustrating when you can't finish a well played pass, but this isn't exactly Texas State we're playing.

Totally agree about the three pointer, ASU3432. The three was pioneered in the SoCon, you know.ASU3432Mi wrote:Hate the "3". Ruined college hoops for me.

Not a fan of those Sunkist looking shorts. Like the yellow uniforms I am sure they will grow on me, but not right now.

Re: @ DOOK
Went to the game. Have a couple of thoughts:
1) uniforms look like practice jerseys
2) Coach Fox does an excellent job with the talent we have at App.
3) Duke looked to have 3"+ at every position with even more on the bench. When the Admiral's son is a walk on at your opponent it's going to be a tough game!
4) if we get better at using two hands to catch the basketball we will do a lot of damage in the Sun Belt.
5) Too many App fans wearing Duke shirts with App hats. I understand cheering for multiple teams, but you can't fence sit during head-to-head meetings!
6) It's Great to be a Mountaineer!

Re: @ DOOK
My thoughts from seeing the game in person:
1) Being able to platoon McDonalds All-Americans on the floor (even with 3 of the best benched) is difficult to overcome for 95% of the teams in the country.
2) BIgger stronger faster . . .
3) Fox drew up some really good plays that were inches from being executed perfectly. I expect much improvement in Sun Belt play this season
4) App's uniforms were hideous
5) I didn't see any mixes of App and Duke apparel, but not surprised others did. I did love the guy in the gold App State shirt in the middle of the Cameron Crazy section. That dude gets mad props.

Easy answer.. because I'm an App fan.. same reason I call Georgia Southern jawjaw suthin..The Rock wrote:Care to articulate why you don't like Duke, and why calling them "dook" makes you feel better about that fact?proasu89 wrote:I'm not a heel fan and I have no problem using dook. Sat on the base line next to the bench. Coach Fox had the guys playing hard all game even though it was out of hand, and he was always positive with them. Funny think when he yelled across the floor at one Ref asking if was the younger ref's first game, ever!

Re: @ DOOK
At this point I'll take cheap jerseys if it gives Fox more money in his recruiting budget.
Big game Monday! UNCC just lost to Davidson by 22. We need every App fan who can make it to Halton on Monday to show up.

Jack Gibbs (25 points per game last year) played against uncc. He did not play against us. Big difference, although I still think we can beat uncc.moonshine wrote:At this point I'll take cheap jerseys if it gives Fox more money in his recruiting budget.
