Re: Fox
I wanted to see a 1 year extension before this season started and would still like to see it. I'll always be thankful that someone of his caliber and character was willing to give up a good thing and try to right the ship up here. He should have been more than familiar with what he was walking into and still did it. I'm not especially close to the program, but I'm confident he's building a solid foundation the right way. Just one man's opinion, but once it all "clicks," the progress will be exponential and meteoric!

Re: Fox
A contract is a contract. He signed, ASU admin signed it. Let him finish it. A deal is a deal. Houston Fancher is available now, maybe will be next year. Who we going to get that's better?

Re: Fox
Hire him as Fox's Assoc Head Coach for next year. Nothing says WIN like having your possible replacement sitting beside you on the bench.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 3:36 pmA contract is a contract. He signed, ASU admin signed it. That's what I do. I gripe and I know things.

Ha, boy did it ever not turn out so well. We have yet to recover from that debacle.AppDawg wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 7:47 amTHIS. The last time a donor stepped up, it didn’t turn out so well for our B-ball program.APPARJ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 12:24 amDoes the athletic department have $250,000 to pay a coach to sit at home?MountaineerChemist10 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2018 9:22 amThink Fox will be gone by the end of the season?
Be careful what you wish for.

Re: Fox
I thought we should have hired or at least made a run at Matt McMahon. Obviously, that was not in the cards. If it doesn't work out for Fox (and I hope it does), is there even a small chance Matt would talk to us or has that ship sailed for good?

Re: Fox
McMahon is making more money than we currently pay at an objectively better job. I don’t know if he’d listen but for most folks loyalty to dear old alma mater has its limits.
Btw, he’s doing pretty well there after a so-so first couple years. Currently 14-5, 6-2 in conference.

Re: Fox
Matt will go down as one of the great near misses in App history...along with the 1975 Tangerine Bowl and the recruitment of Sleepy Floyd/Leonard Hamilton....

Re: Fox
Maybe McMahon will have a chance to return at some point. That would be a great hire and you never know. The situation might be much more favorable if and when that happens. It's not officially a "miss" until the game is over and he is still a very young coach.
