Next four games against weaker opponents are big. Looks like 11-7 should be enough for a Top 4 bye. Heck I wouldn’t be shocked if 10-8 gets there.

I think the Southern Miss & Marshall schedules lend themselves well to both performing well enough down the stretch for byes.

My hunch is App & Louisiana both grab the other two byes.
Given that over half the league is either 4-2 or 3-3, I don't think anyone with any certainty at this point can say who will finish in the top 4. Marshall and So Miss seem to be the best and Ul is coming on, but no one seems that far a head of the rest of the pack.
I tend to agree. It appears App can play up or down to anyone in the conference. That said, I'm encouraged by the last few games. I am hoping this team finds their rhythm and really starts playing up to potential, which I think is high!

I watched a few minutes of the Marshall v Miss game the other night. Marshall really gets up and down the floor.

Someone on twitter said boykin is in a walking boot? Did he get hurt? Anyone confirm if true? If so, ouch.
He was in a walking boot.
Apparently has been bothering him and was stepped on in the GS game.

I think I have watched about every conference team play and none of them have hit their stride yet.MU does look good as of now.We have room to improve but are in the hunt as is.We clean some things up and get some timely shooting I like our chances to make a run.To be clear , we need to improve as the season progresses to have a shot , I think we can.

What’s boykins injury status? Any idea on if/when he will be back?

Kerns said after the game Boykin is "week to week" as he hurt something that had been bothering him for a while. So likely unavailable this coming weekend.

"X" is a shut-down defender and did a better job with dribble penetration and finishing at the rim. He is sooooo explosive.

Thanks TK. Hopeful it's not too serious and that he has a great recovery. We are going to need him down the stretch. Impressed with Xavion in his absence and other guys that stepped up. Injuries and suspensions have shown we are a deep team and can still run 8-9 guys out there. Finish strong apps!

We really need to take care of business the next 4 games as those teams are all currently below us in the standings. Way too much left to play but a 3-1 at least in that stretch would be awesome.

Going off nothing other than watching him walk around I doubt he sees action this week .Note however that PT and rehab are in a different century than in my day.

I feel like Xavion has made a real nice step forward this year. Best on ball defender and confident on the dribble. If he can get his ft down he’a downright dangerous

Had 7 rebounds as well. That is pretty high for a guard.

Wish he could shoot. Explosive athlete with the offensive game of a power forward, but in a point guards body

I can live with him not being able to shoot if he handles the ball well, drives and finishes or dishes, and plays the kind of defense he’s been playing. All the point guard stuff.

I heard the PBP crew say Dustin Kerns is going to have his work cut out re-recruiting Abson for next season. That kid is special and some big programs will try to tamper and take him away. Gotta hold on to the best big man we’ve had in a while.

We had one player that was pursued heavily after last season , you can guess who that is.We have to recruit our own players , constantly as well as dealing with NIL which puts us at a huge disadvantage.

Having to recruit our own sucks but remember, most players who transfer in had coaches on their old rosters trying to recruit them into staying there too (the exception being the occasional grad transfers). App State basketball is the bigger better deal for some of these transfers. It’s an unfortunate and unfair truth of today’s college athletics.

We are going to lose a player at some point. But, we also have Boone in our favor. Players don't have to live with the distractions of a Charlotte, Birmingham, etc.

I believe that part of App's success in the future is focusing on regional branding, sponsorship and NIL deals. Using the strength of football, someone needs to go after Tier 1 and Tier 2 Carolina Based companies and up our sponsorship packages. (The Cook Out/Cheerwine Convocation Center has a nice ring to it).

Being in Boone is always going to be an advantage/disadvantage. (but, at least the dilution of the power of local media no longer puts us at a disadvantage on that front). We need to play up the strengths and figure out ways to turn the weakness (location hurting sponsorships and NIL's) into a strength.

They are 20th by revenue. Would be great to expand their role. https://www.statista.com/statistics/315 ... y-revenue/

Recruit someone from the racing industry to head it up, who has a history with sponsorships and has the relationships.
