I feel as though I'm losing a part of my life that brings me joy.

Appalachian athletics has provided an outlet from the outside noise for over two decades personally.

Isn't getting difficult to stay invested at the current rate.

Like others have said, this is a great example on why you celebrate guys like Gregory and Huntley. They rightfully deserved their championship after years of keeping faith in the program, and deserve to be praised. This is just the sport now. Thanks to JA and Spillers for this year, but goodluck and sayonara.

It’s the redshirted freshmen that are puzzling and you can chalk up to kids being kids. The only tape you really have is likely only your HS tape, and like we see in football that probably means you’re scaling down to a “lesser” program or division.

We are a training program for the schools with deeper pockets. I guess Kerns will go looking for transfers at every level - those from big conferences that are looking for more PT and those from little schools that want to move up because they feel they are better than the school they played for. Losing interest fast.
I hope I’m living the day some schools says “It ain’t worth it. We are dropping football.” When they do, their campus crime rate will drop.

Been saying it for a couple years now. Play the guys while you have them, unless they aren’t even close to being ready. Hayes could have played a role this year. You aren’t promised tomorrow with the portal. It is interesting he is leaving now with Abson/Spillers/Huntley gone.

Although disappointed with the changes and turnover on players given new age, I try to view it as I am invested in App. St. overall as an alumni as compared to getting too invested in individuals. My commitment to App St fandom does not or has not changed. Do days like today tick me off? ...yes....but then tomorrow comes and I am all-in. I try to rationalize as it is not a four year marriage anymore..it is a one year relationship with no strings attached once the year is over...😂😂😂

For me it's the overall direction of college athletics more than anything.

And we suck again. So much for that fan momentum.

One position I’m watching is Western Kentucky. Supposedly SMU is eyeing Lutz, which would open up the HC spot for the Hilltoppers.

WKU is a premier Mid-Major program with 8 tournament appearances in this century alone. And Lutz was making $650k + $400k in incentives there.

What does campus crime rate have to do with football? Seems like a bad generalization... Every program isn't ran like UGA.

I am not sure what everyone expected. Our basketball program is an average program that had a historic season. We don't have the culture yet to withstand the portal like our football program has done thus far. That will take several seasons of success to obtain. I don't root for App State athletics because of the coach, players, portal or NIL. I root because I am a proud alumni who loves sports. So many people here who are "losing interest" or "about had it" or "not sure how much longer they'll watch" are lying to themselves. It doesn't matter who wears the jersey, nothing compares to filling up KBS, cheering on App State and the joy of winning. You all know that as well, which is why you'll never give up college sports.

This is basically how I feel.

It’s hard to imagine fans staying emotionally vested when it feels as if fewer and fewer players are emotionally vested.

I know there will always be some players who will stay a Mountaineer for their entire college career, but most will bolt at the first chance.

It’s harder to be a fan now and I can’t imagine trying to be a coach.

The spirit of the game is fading and I believe the spirit of the fan will soon fade as well.

I love App State sports as much as anything, and I hate the thought of not caring anymore, but college sports just doesn’t feel like college sports at this point.

All of this was so predictable. No one should be surprised. It's a shame, and I'm grateful for this season. But if a program isn't supported, this will happen. And the thing is, none of these guys will go to the NBA. They just have a shot a more appreciated program.

Even if we "supported" the school more the current cycle doesn't stop and that leaves fans feeling empty.

Red was right, hope is a dangerous thing.

Kerns either told them he’s leaving or now he’s going to leave because he’s got 4 guys left.

We return 4 guys that played.
Harcum
Brown
Tate
Mantis.

Ouch!
