I agree that Boone is not always the easiest place to attract someone when you consider the winter months we have there. However, I believe someone from Rhode Island that played in Maine has probably experienced just a little cold, snowy weather. Appears to be a good hire and especially due to the timing. Excited for the Lady Mountaineers who now know who will lead them througfh this season and hopefully many more to come. Welcome Coach Elderkin. Go Apps!

I agree with the Maine- Rhode Island thing but that doesn't necessarily mean they want to recreate those times. Personally, I loved the weather in Boone when I was in school there, but cold climates turn me off now due to my old age. ;)

I know one thing. I just watched the presser announcing Coach Elderkin as womens basketball coach and she definitely has won me over as a fan. Wow ! She brings an uplifting spirit to this program at a critical time and it couldn't have turned out better. If you get a minute, just watch the press conference. You can't help but be impressed with her.

Outstanding opening remarks by the new coach...early take...intense, but very positive...will focus on building the team into a family who plays hard for each other. She invited alumni and fans to come to practices, the first of which is on Sunday. Call the basketball office if you are interested.
