The talent was there , started off hot but never found any consistency. Up and down. Good tournament run but ETSU was just too good in Asheville as I recall.

Les parlayed that run into a head coaching job at NC State (with Buzz Peterson as an assistant). Reynold's Coliseum. He had a 20-win season with Valvano's players (Fire and Ice's senior seasons plus Tom Guggliotta as a Jr.), then struggled mightily for the next five years. That's back before one and done's when you knew every player on every ACC roster and watched each player battle for three or four seasons of ACC play.
