Damn. Having to play eight tonight. The Sun Belt does not protect its top teams.

17-30 from the line. Awful. Make just 4 more and it's completely over

Free throws will cost us games down the road. Get it out now.

I hate when announcers say "nobody is gonna want to play them". They never say, "that team is awful and everyone wants to play them".

I doubt our defense can hold them under 60 again, going to need to be more efficient on offense.

Their dribble penetration success was alarming. I see it as surviving an off night. In the past we would not have.

Lord, these threads are getting as bad as the football threads.
App basically dominated the first half. Southern came out on fire to start the second half, App took Southern’s hardest punch straight to the face and didn’t even fall down. Won by 10 and it wasn’t close for the last 7-ish minutes of the game. All of that with 2/5 starters missing significant time due to foul trouble.
Also, for the folks still panicking over free throws, we are running out of “games down the road” that we will lose due to missed free throws.

Craig I want you to be right about the free throws, but 58% will bite us versus good teams. Luckily the only top 100 team we’ll play in conference is also a terrible FT shooting team.

Count me in as one “panicking”, it’s our Achilles Heel right now. And we have already lost 2 games this year due in large part to poor FT shooting. Lost in OT to Oregon St (58%) and a 4pt loss to Troy (61%). Even avg FT shooting and we have 2 more wins. I am actually surprised teams don’t just foul Abson and X once in the 1 and 1. Good to see X go 3-4 tonight despite one banking in. I love this team, I hope it’s not the reason we loose a chance at the dance.

I complain about FT’s as much as anybody, and it will cost us another game….. but damn this team plays hard and never hangs its head. Big shout out to Jordan Marsh tonight and the minutes he gave us when Harcum had to sit in the first half.

You can probably look at other teams who are similar to us and point to aspects of their team that have prevented wins. Some might not be as good as we are on defense. How about our shot blocking which leads to extra possessions? It's almost like guys who hyper focus on the football run defense. Wins are wins. I comment about our FT shooting as well but we are 16-4 and 7-1 in the Belt. If not for those other parts of our game- defense and shot blocking do we win all of those games? Way too much focus on what is really a minor problem because you are really only talking 4 or so points per game.

If Harcum can shoot like he did last night, we will be hard to beat given our defense.

FTs are important as they are "freebies". No D obstruction. We have some guys shooting less than 50%. Hopefully, we will improve

It looks like Xavion Brown’s approach to shooting free throws in the past couple of games has improved. He’s getting more of his legs (really his whole body) into the shot. He’ll probably never be a Donald Sims but there seems to be improvement.
