We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Our next 6 conference games are against teams in the bottom half of the standings. 4 of the 6 are at home, next 3 are home. If we take care of business, should be in position for a top 2 seed.

Marshall is tied with us in the loss column. Take 'em one at a time... however, on paper, appear to be the most difficult opponent that we have yet to play.
Marshall still has Ark St and So. Alabama.
Definitely favorable schedule for the Mountaineers.

I used to watch college basketball all the time, now, I only watch App because the game isn't the same and I need emotional investment of App to make me care.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:21 pmAgree. It is more of a drive the lane and kick it out for the three. It’s not fun to watch.Cro-Magnon App wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:06 pmAPPdiesel, you mention we don’t move well without the ball … lot of players standing around. I’ve noticed about every team does this now. They get it from the NBA where two players run a screen & roll and the other three “position themselves” (in other words, stand around and rest and watch). This is the new way - and it is boring to watch. Bobby Knight’s motion offense is no more. Sharing the ball is a thing of the past. It is poor basketball and is being played at all levels. Makes it easy to guard. …. I watched high school game Friday night and saw the same thing. I just watched Maryland vs Indiana, pretty much the same.
A wonderful game has changed for the worst. Not as fun to watch without the movement.

I’m the same way. Used to love college basketball but like you, I support the App teams by watching.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 6:41 pmI used to watch college basketball all the time, now, I only watch App because the game isn't the same and I need emotional investment of App to make me care.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:21 pmAgree. That is the whole point of the slow it down plan. You minimize the posessions and look to force bad shots from the opposing team if they are down.311neers wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:28 pmIt would be nice to start our sets a little bit earlier in the shot clock. It takes Tate roughly 8 secs to get to the half court line and we aren’t starting our half court set until shot clock is at 16-18 seconds- that’s not that much time for a play. It’s probably all apart of the “slow it down plan”, but we do take it to the extreme. Even starting our half court sets with 20-22 secs left on the shot clock would give us a few more possessions a game and not make possessions feel rushed.APPdiesel wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 6:43 pmI’m noticing we don’t do a particularly good job of moving without the ball. There’s a lot of standing around watching the ball handler and not moving to get open. There’s a lot of cut back behind the ball carrier to hand it off, but nobody is moving to get open without the ball. It’s like there’s no plan, just run around and see who gets open.

It does not matter to me if the ball is over half court in 8 to 10 seconds. On offense, I am just not a fan of this style of ball. It is not just App. St. I would like to see more movement by guards without the ball.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 6:56 pmThat is the whole point of the slow it down plan. Although it pains me to say this, several years ago, dook was very good at this.... maybe they still are..I have not watched a single dook game this year
With that said, there is a reason that Kerns is called the head coach...

Coach K was one of the first coaches to say I’d rather be a 30% three point shooting team than a 40% two point shooting team. Spread the floor and let my guards drive and dish.BambooRdApp wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 7:10 pmIt does not matter to me if the ball is over half court in 8 to 10 seconds. honestly, ULM needs to give up the dream and move to the southland like Idaho.
Their entire athletic budget is a lot closer to Apps football budget than Apps entire athletic budget, and we aren't even tops in the sunbelt.

Re: MBB @ ULM, Saturday 1/25 3pm
Really good teams still move well without the ball. It also depends on the play and situation. Sometimes App runs plays where all 5 guys are moving and screening, sometimes it's a two man game or iso-ball.BUTCH1991 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 6:41 pmI used to watch college basketball all the time, now, I only watch App because the game isn't the same and I need emotional investment of App to make me care.AppSt94 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 26, 2025 3:21 pmAgree. 4 win ULM beats South Aly by 11. This was ULM’s first conference win. This moves App into a 4 way tie for 2nd with South, Troy and Marshall. S Aly should be embarrassed.

ULM doing us a solid there. Kenpom has App going 7-2 to finish and that still only being good enough for third... although I think 13-5 is still probably good enough for second once things wash out.

But I pointed out on CSNbbs this would have ruined south Al at large chances if they were having a slightly better season (like jmu last year).
Ulm is like 340 in net out of 360 total d1 schools. Upsets are gonna happen, but they just don’t have the funds to compete.
