Another one in the books, my 40th. I've learned to temper expectations but damn ....

Troy shot 57% from the floor and App had 8 assists all game. That ladies and gentleman is coaching or lack there of.

It's also our 2 leading assist guys sitting at the end of the bench because they were suspended. Not sure they would have helped much anyway. We looked slow and bad on defense. Conditioning is an issue.

There was much to take away from last night's game but to me it was the stark difference in how tenacious Troy was on D and how soft we were. For me, that is the overriding weakness of this team. Regardless of the defense employed, we struggle to stop the opposition. Hopefully experience, maturity, and improved conditioning will help going forward. If not, we will be relegated to second division status.

The best thing about this season is that it is over. We've practiced patience with a young team and a coach that inherited a mess, but with that said, the grace period window is now closing, and it's time for some tangible results. The 2017-18 preseason has begun for us and another single digit win season will no longer be acceptable. I'm pulling hard for Fox and the boys and hope the turnaround begins now. It must.

If Fox says the words "young team" next year he should be fired. With the exception of Robinson, our returning starters will have all played in at least 60 games, all but 1 started in at least 47 of those games and averaged at least 18 mins.
When you look at the fact that we are "missing" 3 would be seniors from this team, as well as 4 would be juniors, we had potential to not be so young. The young players we have, have never played in a system other than Fox's at App State.
If he does not have success these next 2 years, then we are sunk. By the end of the 18-19 season we will have graduated all but 4 players off the current team. 5 in 17-18 (3 Scholarships) and 8 in 18-19 (6-7 Scholarships).

I was not able to watch many games this season, but one topic that I keep reading is conditioning. Isn't Iron Mike also over conditioning for the MBB team? I was under the assumption that he was over conditioning for all our teams. Maybe I am wrong.

No, he is director but he can't cover all the teams.

Jim was quoted as saying something to the effect that we needed a couple of more recruiting years and that he considered this " year one". Seacat is our lone recruit and I believe this was year three. High level math has never been my forte however....

My expectations for our basketball team are pretty minimal, and they still aren't being met.
Finishing 301 in RPI is atrocious. Finishing behind schools such as Maryland Eastern Shore, SC Upstate and New Jersey Tech is an embarrassment.
