I received an email this afternoon from the athletics department asking students to take a survey on what the student section should be named.

I think taking advantage of the student athletic fees you've already paid for would be enough. The Mountaineer Madness crowd was a complete joke. I'm sure there are many reasons why with family in town, but I'm sure going was never even an option for some students. Let's get student attendance up and make it more of a factor before worrying about a name. Do they feel a name will bring more support?

Need a young person, connected to the school that understands what it takes to get students in seats at Holmes and allow them to spend some $$$ to do so! I guarantee I know 3 people who would do a great job. Unfortunately, the Athletic Department has been over turned and if you don't have that true desire and passion for Boone and App State as a whole, it is tough to truly master the craft.

While I was in school the basketball team was pretty decent. Past couple of years have been really rough. I think about it though. I wasn't that vested in the success of the team, I was just looking for an opportunity to yell and cheer for App State basketball and meet chicks. Any chance to do those two things make it a great event.

Sadly it is. Given past failed and poor marketing attempts for various things, can't say I am surprised.

I'm sure the name they choose will be lame. But a lame name will be fitting considering they're naming a group of ~100 people.

More or less, the former Assoc AD that was doing marketing came up with the Maniacs and made it what it was. THEN we hired a professional marketing person that didn't care for it one way or another and let it die. They did try to bring it back once or twice but failed. In the mean time, WVU took the ball and ran with it. Now it would look like copying them and we want something of our own.

I dont care if it looks like we are copying anyone, especially if we actually used it in the past.
