Couldn’t watch the game because my girlfriend dragged me out to see the nutcracker but I periodically checked the score. Looked like another close game with a good team. Gotta think we’ll put it together soon.
Akron beat Cleveland State who beat stAte
Akron beat UT-Martin who beat stAte
We're talking 2-6 and 2-7 teams, which tells you how bad stAte is. Akron is a decent team and we played well enough on the road to win last night. While frustrating and disappointing that we can't win the close ones, this team is capable of winning every night out against this level of competition. Hopefully, that will start happening more frequently as the season progresses.

Will be interested to see how deal with 8-3 Ohio State next Saturday.

Offense is much improved but defense is still poor and too many turnovers.

Learning to win close games is part of the progression in building a program. And I know you/we don't want to hear this, but that is another step that takes time. We are more competitive. So, let's retain the talent we have and add to it. Wins will come and the building continues.

Much blame to go all around, but the primary reasons are listed below. No particular order.

Another loss to an average peer program.Still can't grasp the WCU loss.Unforgivable.Athletic , but fundamentally weak. Poor defense and mental mistakes at crucial times continue. We have talent, the pieces on the floor,it just isn't being put "together ". Thinking back to Bobby , what he started with and the progress they made year by year.Yes, I understand he was a once in a lifetime coach but others including Buzz ,have turned programs around in 3 or 4 years.Jim has another year, which is plenty,to start winning consistently. It will be interesting to see what happens if we make it above .500 at the end of next year.Is that our "ceiling"? His predecessors have proven otherwise.

I'm beginning to think its the shorts since we can't seem to win on the road. ;)

And we only had 5 turnovers on Saturday.

Didn't see Akron game but we lost to Western because we cannot make foul shots at the end of a game. Before Western's winning basket our star player misses free throws. Time before that- misses. We will never win a close game with fouling during the last minute if we can't hit free throws. Pretty pathetic actually.

Haven't seen the MMBB play as of yet, but from reading all the comments in the Cabin, sounds eerily similar to last year. I also dint understand the WCU loss.

The only substantive resemblance to last year's team is defensive performance. This team can score, they can shoot and they are working together. Last year's team was very selfish and as a result failed at both offense and defense. This team will learn to play defense and improve.

Agreed, this team plays entirely different from last year's team. Our defense is still an issue, but we're MUCH better at scoring then in years past. It's just difficult to win college basketball games when your giving up 80+ points.

Easy to predict. Nope, not that we would lose, that everyone would be apathetic. After Western, collectively our energy is deflated.

Personally I look at it the same as the Hornets. Do something, anything to pull me back in. Until then, I'll be checking in from afar.
Please don't jump on the band wagon when this team starts winning and making some noise in Sun Belt play. I have been quiet listening to all these people bashing this team and Coach Fox. They work hard and are right on the edge of doing some very good things. The program is being built THE RIGHT WAY and I can't wait for these kids to pull it all together...good things to come, you can see it in their play.

I hate having to respond to this, but ehh What's up Doc?
