I was finishing undergrad at App when he started and then grad school for his last 2 years of the first stint. Those were good times in varsity gym. I recall a packed house against Davidson, probably the year we went to the NCAA tourney. Those teams were fun to watch and very cohesive units.

Fortunate that my four years at App coincided with Buzz's first four. As much as we're known as a football school, basketball was my first love as a student. Still one of my favorite in-person sporting events was attending the SoCon Tournament in Greenville the year we won it.

Yep, that was a fun team and a great time period for App basketball for sure. I was at that packed Varsity game against Davidson, and at all of our SoCon tournament games when we won in Greenville, and then went to Nashville for our first round NCAA game against Ohio State which we lost badly. Even the Nashville loss was a fun trip.
