No excuse for losing this game in this manner. We have plenty of talent, but we're not producing the results. Fox and the staff can recruit well, but something isn't working on the bench. I hope they can figure it out during conference play.
Unfortunately JT it looks like the team flat quit on him last night. Once again looks like a coaching staff who is overmatched. I don't see this ship getting turned.

App would finish in the basement of the socon easily. There are 9 teams better than them hands down.
Not "them" , "us".

Sounds like Jim has lost it , holy cow this team beat a good Davidson squad a month ago and has absolutely fallen apart since the USF game.Getting worse and losing to bad teams ANYWHERE speaks loudly about the program.I would LOVE to have Mike Young in Boone.
I know there were rumors about him interviewing after capel was canned, but I don’t know if there’s any validity. He’s obviously happy in Spartanburg. 20 something years as assistant and head coach and has had plenty of opportunities to leave for a lot more money...just wn.a nice new arena as well.
That story is essentially accurate. CCobb spoke with Young by phone to assess his interest and availability. Young told him that he had no interest in leaving Wof what-so-ever. He said, in a gracious way, that we'd need to look elsewhere. He and his wife are set for life in Spartytown.
That is my understanding as well. On all accounts. But if I'm DG I still make that call...

If you’re considering alternatives at head coach you may want to consider Bobby Lutz. Not that he would do it... but he has a good track record and he probably could “right the ship”.
He turned us down last go round, but again I'd reach out to him.

3-8 vs D1 teams this non conference season. Not good enough.

We apparently sought him before fox was hired. He ended up taking his name out of the search to stay at NC State. I’m not sure that he wanted to try to fix the apr mess that capel left.

I heard so many rumors during that search, I don’t know what to believe. I never heard Fox’s name until he was hired.

Just asking, why would now be any different, Stonewall?

Re: Lutz. Might not be any different now... but.. now he is in Chicago, he’s 59, and he is a Catawba county native. The landscape has changed quite a bit... it’s worth an ask.

I don't think there is much of a chance to get him, but what about the associate Head coach-Jay McAuley? He has worked at Wofford then Gardner Webb with Chris Holtmann for 3 years then Furman and now back at Wofford as associate head. All those schools broke their wins record when McAuley was on staff. I know it is not a big name guy but if we want someone who is from that Wofford family this would be a decent choice...

I trust DG to make the right call at the right time. Up to this point, who knows how this crazy season will turn out? We've persevered through some very bad, downright embarrassing basketball during recent years, so there is no big rush for a mid-season coup d'etat. All parties are aware of where we are. I plan to support App State, catch a few home games when I can, and let the chips fall where they may.

Never get Young after they beat UNC. His stock just got pricey.

It might be that he wants one more go at being a head coach .I have not talked to Bobby in years.I recommended him when Buzz was hired the first time .Man I'm getting old.I think you have to check him off the list , as well as Young-who I don't see going anywhere but you have to ask.My thought is a search , if and when there is one, will mirror Kermit Smith's hire.Proven head coach at a small program...

Josh Schertz at Lincoln Memorial D2 fits the billing of Kermit. He's a damn good coach.

Stop and ponder those words for a minute or two and you suddenly are in a time machine headed back to the mid-70s and the days of Press (Maravich) and Russ (Bergman). That smacks of starting all over --yet again. I dunno if I have another do-over left in me.

I don't know Brother, God willing I think I have a least one more "start over" left in me. :D
