Re: WBB: Apps v. Lady Mavs Noon HCC
UTA prevails 64-60. It was the Apps' game to win, but as has been so oft the case in recent seasons, simply terrible shooting from two-point range was the dagger.
On a much brighter note...
6-5 Rebekah Van Dijk is a senior center and pre-season SBC Player-of-the-Year for UTA. Today, in head-to-head play against App center Baylee Plummer, she was held to 5 points and 10 boards--her lowest point total since her freshman season and below her season rebound average. To her credit (and her size) Van Dijk blocked six shots, making her a difference-maker in a four-point game.
The 6-4 soph Plummer, on the other hand, scored 9 points and collected an astounding 20 (not a typo) boards. Her shooting percentage was affected by the taller and more experienced Van Dijk, but she's already a force in the middle for the Apps seen very rarely in the program's history. She has two-plus seasons remaining and she's still developing her skills.
The Plummer-Van Dijk head-to-head competition was pretty much a wash...except that it was App soph v. UT-A senior and SBC best at her position and perhaps best overall! It had to have been a war of sorts between the two.

If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!
