Be careful what you wish for.

THIS. The last time a donor stepped up, it didn’t turn out so well for our B-ball program.APPARJ wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 12:24 amDoes the athletic department have $250,000 to pay a coach to sit at home?MountaineerChemist10 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 23, 2018 9:22 amThink Fox will be gone by the end of the season?

All good coaches have one basic thing in common...they have good players. Good players are recruited by the coach and his staff as well as the fans and community. How many good football players would be recruited by ASU if they attended a recruiting visit with 10,000 fans in the stands who basically sat on their hands during the game and then went home. I don't live very close to Boone, but I attend most home games and some road games in state. When I am at a game in Boone, I can't help but wonder where several thousand students are spending their time on game days while a few hundred come to the Holmes Center to support the Mountaineers. How many good basketball players or good basketball coaches want to play in a quiet gym with a few hundred fans in the stands? I would love to see the Mountaineers play competitive, championship basketball. As in football, it takes good coaches, good players, and support from the administration, students, and the community to establish a winning program. ASU basketball is not there yet. They are closer than in previous years. But we are falling short in many areas that are within our control. To blame it all on Coach Fox is simplistic, and wrong.
Enough with the schizophrenic responses to our basketball team. Get on board and support OUR COACH & OUR TEAM!!
Winning record
This is the most sensible scenario.SpeedkingATL wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 9:57 amJust remember the dumpster fire that Fox inherited. The team is competitive this year; they just can't seem to finish. Let Fox finish his contract next year with what should be his best personnel on court and see what happens.

Looking ahead, next season's bar should be above .500 , and for the love of God, beat Western if we play them.
I've been advocating for a staff shake-up for the last two seasons. I thought it would occur after last season as Fox had to be aware that his future was in jeopardy. With the team's recent slide, he's officially in extreme jeopardy and he will shortly enter final jeopardy. This period of final jeopardy will begin immediately following this season's #Fun Belt Tourney.Yosef84 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 7:10 amEveryo[tweet]ne is frustrated with the lack of wins on the basketball court. I'm far from an expert in basketball (or any other sport for that matter) but I do h[/tweet]ave one question: Does Fox have the right supporting staff? Coaching a team isn't a one man job. I understand that building the staff is part of his job, but is the lack of funding preventing him from building a strong staff? Maybe that's not the issue at all. I'm just wondering if a strong #2 would be a big part of the answer.
No."Extension". At the end of his contract. He is here until the end of the next season barring some unforeseen event.
That makes sense and I had thought about the fact that it would be hard to get someone to come in for a one year contract. The only options I could think of would be someone coming our of retirement for a year or someone who had been displaced. It's a long shot regardless. Maybe he can put the staff through bootcamp and energize them in the off season. When football was implementing the spread, the coaching staff went to WVU and learned the ropes. I wonder if there is a comparable move available. I know I'm grasping at straws. I'd just really like to see the team catch fire for Fox and start winning. He seems like a class act and I'd love to see this program enjoy some success.asu66 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 24, 2018 1:17 pmI've been advocating for a staff shake-up for the last two seasons. Because Fox didn't upgrade his staff after last season when he still had two full seasons remaining on his contract, he's probably got the staff he's going to sink or swim with. It's highly unlikely that a high quality *Number Two* guy would move for what could very well be a one-year gig.
Fox waited too late to hire some *blue-chip* assistance. Whether he was too proud or too loyal or too weak to make a change is moot. He has what he has!
May the good saints protect Coach Fox and bless him today, and may troubles ignore him and his Mountaineers each step of the way through March 2019 and beyond...
