Best way to show your support for a team is always to talk about another team while the game is going on.

This is why I don't go to the football celebration day, 90% of the increased attendance doesn't give a damn about the the game and will leave after the FB team is recognized at half time. It's a 3:30 game, you can still get back down the mountain in plenty of time and the kids don't have school the next day. At least sit there and look interested.

I have heard more nattering on about football from these crowds than talk about the game going on in the arena.

As for the seniors, I'd like to see the football crowd try and pick them out of a lineup.

I don't doubt the sincerity of your post, but November is the time to try and get people to show up, so maybe they will keep coming to the games.

If we ever said that about our Football team, we would be on our third coach at least. We shouldn't hold Basketball to any lesser standard. I see other coaches get hired and have complete turn-around by year three. Not at App.

I could be way off base, but I get the feeling that those complaining the loudest about the basketball program haven't stepped foot in the Holmes Center in 10 years or maybe not ever. I'm sure there are exceptions however.

I've gone to games and feel similarly. Other programs even at App are held to higher standards.

My comment is meant as .500 being considered good enough in the future. .500 is fine this year.

I think the main "We Need A Name/Yea Buzz/Boo Buzz" group are Mainly FBall fans that see basketball as currently bringing down the athletic department. For them complaining about basketball is something to do from the end of the FB season till signing day/spring practice.

Va Tech is only the second program in ACC history to defeat UVA, UNC, and Duke in the same year when they were in the top 10. In Fox's first year we beat Tech. It is an apples to oranges comparison on many levels, but at some point we have to stop being so patient with the program. Will we be blaming Capel in ten years if we are still struggling to reach .500?

I do believe Fox deserves the opportunity to coach through the first real recruiting class he brought in (excluding year 1 and APR problems). Next season that will be the case. If it doesn't happen next year (above .500, in the conference conversation, etc.) then it is time to begin looking elsewhere. We have been real close this year. With some consistent and clutch play this team could be third. Next year those kinds of losses have to be wins. The time for moral victories is past.

Maybe we can get some football players on the basketball team...

I think last night's result puts us in an at best 6th seed with a win and worst 10th seed with a loss.

Yah I guess if we win & UTA/Monroe/Troy all lose then we're in a four way tie for fourth place to determine 4/5/6/7

First elevant tiebreaker is W/L percentage of tied teams.

App 3-2
ULM 2-3
Troy 2-3
UTA 3-2

Then UTA beats us any way you slice it on next tiebreaker.

Winning and hoping for #6 seed seems like our best route to some Sunbelt Tourney wins...
