Isaac Johnson fouling out hurts, he collected five offensive boards.

2/20 from 3 now.

I think we played tough but Neal played lights out & shots weren't falling. If we shoot even 25% from 3 it's a game...

Props to the guys for playing hard though, I think we're a better team next year and make Semis.

Here's looking forward to next season. Time to let guys on the bench get a couple of tourney minutes.

Well, we warmed up to 13% from 3. You have to believe if we hit 30% of those threes, we are in the game. Truly, live by the 3, die by it. Kinney went out with a great game, our only player who shot the ball with any consistency. Neal must wish he played us every time out.

Would have loved to have gotten the win, but we played hard and lost to a better team. Although we'd all preferred winning 20 and advancing deep in the tournament, the team did in fact show improvement, if not consistency. Next season will be huge. Really pulling for Fox and the boys to break out. At least the past few games give us a bit of hope, if not cautious optimism for next season. Go Apps!

Well , I guess the season ended about as it should. UTA is a much better team, especially at this time of year, when it really counts. Kinney played well, no one else. I hope the Shabazz at point experiment is over. It has to be. Fox is learning on the job at about a .34 winning percentage .Next year...what will it take for him to earn an extension? That will speak loudly to our administration's expectations for men's basketball .I have been to all of our NCAA Tournament games, I hope to see at least one more before the old clock runs down for the last time.

Has there ever been a player who has done what Neal has done against us?
I started following Appalachian basketball as a high school junior in 1961. I've pretty much seen it all since enrolling as a freshman in the fall of 1962. The only other opposing players I can recall who could take control of a game like Neal were Henry Logan of Western Carolina in the mid-60s and David Thompson of NC State in the mid-70s. That was a long time ago and a lot of fine players have taken the court against the Apps since then, but those two were simply unstoppable. They played the game over everyone's heads and well above the rim. In their eras and in their leagues, they really had no equals.
If it happens to the Apps, it happens to me!

I can think of a more recent opposing player who lit us up a couple times - some skinny kid at Davidson with a nice jumper. I think we're in pretty good company in his case, though.

Steph who? :? Yeah, how well I know. Hard to oppose that guy.

My thinking was about guys who did it all--and all over the court. It's so easy to split hairs. Like all around players v. pure shooters. And like before and after the 3 point shot.

The #2 guy on the Davidson all-time scoring list got there w/o any treys. He was a 6-5, 150 nerdy, skinny-as-a-rail Jersey kid (with a wild blonde Afro) named John Gerdy. He lit us up in VG and in DC's old gym for three seasons during the Cremins era.

Steph who? :? Yeah, how well I know. Hard to oppose that guy for this "honor."

Gerdy would have his back to the basket, top of the key and put up some kind of twisting , off balance fade away. Net. His last game in Varsity as I remember was against Fitch, Payton and company. Oh yeah , we won. It's what we did back in those days .

☑ Check! Mid-January in VG, SRO crowd, Apps win 79-65. Gerdy had half of DC's points that night.
